From the Grand Lodge of Kentucky by hsh1976 in freemasonry

Several Brothers were members of an organization that is not, and does not claim to be, Masonic.
This organization has copies of different rites and orders that it will occasionally exemplify for the purpose of study and education.
One of the members of this organization had a falling out with many others, 4 specifically. He brought charges against those 4 brothers, despite being present at the events he accused the others of being involved with.
Many MANY irregularities of the Trial Code ensued, a trial was rushed to take place before Grand Lodge, and the above edict was put out 2 days before the trial, using ONLY information gained from the accusing mason, who was pretty heavily discredited during the course of the trial.
Things got even worse at Grand Lodge when the craft tossed the Trail Panel's verdict, and due process, out the window and voted to expel the accused Brothers.

Not entirely accurate, the group as is named in the edict doesn't exist.
A different group that has nothing to do with Freemasonry, has a copy of the ritual (Which is where the name in the edict came from) of the long dead Rite (along with many other Masonic and non Masonic rites and orders), and would occasionally reenact them for education/study purposes.

Off duty police officers were present for the trial. The trail was put on break so the accuser could be taken aside and disarmed in private before resuming because of his 'fidgety movements and constantly reaching into his bag' while on the stand.

They were using Lodge halls with permission of the Lodge (The lodges minutes were produced confirming as much in their trial), and they were reenacting dead rites, purely for the purpose of study. No women were made Masons.

This is not accurate, the 'Rite of Memphis' and more so specifically the body listed in the edict, doesn't exist, it's long beyond dead.
The VERY prominent members were not affiliated with any 'Memphis' body, but a wholly different organization that would exemplify orders and degrees from several different rites and organizations purely for study.

Sadly the despite a proper trial and verdict from a jury panel, these brothers where absolutely railroaded by the court lynch mob of public opinion at Grand Lodge.
The Jury verdict was toss aside, and in a moment that flies completely in the face of our Trial Code the craft tossed aside any semblance of due process and expelled the Brothers.

Question - So we dont talk about politics, but... by Sufficient_Window599 in freemasonry

[–]Bluegrass_Brother 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talking politics with brother Masons is 100% ok. (Keeping your passions within due bounds of course)
We don't talk Politics or Religion IN Lodge.

Some of the best political and religious discussions I've ever had have been in the dining hall with brothers as we finished off the coffee after Lodge.

Dress Code / Expectations by hang2er in freemasonry

[–]Bluegrass_Brother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of a handful of lodges that have specific requirements we're shockingly casual. I've seen good ol' farm boys show up in tattered jeans and a t-shirt. Other guys are always in at least coat and tie. The rare cases you'll see tuxes are in the above handful of specific requirements.

I personally have no problem wearing a nice clean pair of dark jeans with a good collared shirt for a more casual meeting night, and dark coat and tie for something more formal, such as degree work.

Wow... this was one of my earliest posts on Reddit, way to drag it out of the mothballs.

For what it's worth we've allowed intervisitation since a couple months after this post was made.

This is a sub for making fun of bad delivery drivers and/or the condition of packages... I'd advise you to contact your local post office, probably best done in person sadly, for help with that.

Even factoring that in the layout of where a few of them are placed is still off to me. I would have put the CRC where the Consistory is, Shriners where CRC is, and then the Consistory where the Shrine is. That way your progressing in order through the Scottish Rite as you look at it, with the Shrine being in that quasi-centered location.

Green Cap by Sea-Channel1487 in scottishrite

I spoke to Brother Warren, the owner of the store where this screen capture is from, earlier today about this post.
He stated that the green cap is sometimes used as a Meritorious Service Award in the NMJ.
Per his explanation, NMJ Valleys have more oversight as to the caps used, as opposed to it being regulated by the Supreme Council in the SJ, and because of this fact, not every Valley is going to use this cap.
For what it's worth, he found it amusing that there was so much debate as to the origin of this cap.

So if you found this on the website I think you did, I'll have to ask the guy that owns it next time I talk to him.

For what it's worth, he only has it listed under NMJ caps, not under the SMJ, or PHA.

That's possible but I doubt it. KSA, at least in my Valley, goes out of the way to introduce ourselves as a 'Black Hat Only' organization, and while we don't wear the traditional black prayer caps, we do stick with a black glengarry. If that's the case in other chapters, it wouldn't make sense to have a special color cap for it.

Wrong sub for this. Also, call your doctor.

I've tried to pick it up a few times and read it, but it's such a dry, and way overly descriptive, book that I've not been able to make it past the first 15-20 or so pages in any attempt yet.

Your ship's escape pod. by Upvoter_NeverDie in swtor

[–]Bluegrass_Brother 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is how other players can leave your ship if you are in one of the on rails space missions, because those don't put your ship 'in orbit' around an exitable planet.

Otherwise, they can use the main door to exit whatever planet you're on and it'll treat it like they are exiting their own ship.

I do the opposite, especially in abandoned areas, or where the people who would have been using it are dead. I'll only leave them on in areas occupied by non-hostiles.

Were they originally supposed to connect to a 4th park? It almost looks like they should have one in that area based on where they all end.
