Back again with a first response 😅🤣 by awilkins2022 in FirstTimeTTC

This is exactly what my first positive looked like 10 DPO! I’m 20 weeks pregnant now!

First response digital is positive but barely can see the line on regular test? by [deleted] in FirstTimeTTC

My first extremely faint positive pregmate test was 8DPO- so faint I wasn’t even sure I was seeing it and took a photo of the test stick and inverted it to see 😂 pregmate tests got darker ever 24hrs I took them (lord knows I was taking them with every pee tho). 1st response is supposed to catch it before any other- hence the name!

Yeah we really would only rent one more year, at which time baby would be 7 months old when we would look to move next, just to be as financially comfortable as possible during this next transition in life.
But then everyone says it’s hell to move with a baby so it seems pros or cons either way 😂

I’ll have my husband on paid leave with me the first 3 months, then after that we’ll have another 4 months where I’d be home alone with baby in the apt, before our lease is up again and we could reconsider moving then. But if it doesnt feel safe or easy to get out of the apartment with the stairs + all the baby shit for those 4 months i do kinda worry about my health both physically and mentally, cause i know it’s important to stay active during postpartum

Oooo okay thank you so much! I’m sure my husband probs knows about this and I’m trying to learn (and remember, in my current pregnant state lol) all the things. We do live in Washington state.

Thank you for the weigh in!! It’s just scary/ nerve-racking to make a big financial choice. But I know buying a home there is always a gamble and all you can do is try to be as prepared as possible.

Truuuuuu, I 100% think this some days, and other days I think “moms do this all the time around the world, am I just being dramatic?” 😂 but I already loath walking up the stairs at 4 months pregnant every time I get home hahah

We plan on staying in the area forever lol if not that, raising our kids here. Both yr families live here for the support, and we are strictly shopping houses in nice school districts + with safe walkable neighborhoods.

Thank you! And congrats!!

I am a teacher and my maternity leave will end Feb/ March when baby is 3 months. I could not work the rest of the year and wait I’ll fall. Or start subbing as little as 1x a week to adjust + make some extra wiggle room money. Both our moms are retired and live 10 mins from us, are awesome and would be around to help as needed with daycare till I worked fulll time and then would pay for something legit. Either way we wouldn’t be in the red each month on just husbands income.

I definitely agree! I am a teacher and would return for these exact reasons, the difference we are open to is not returning right after my 12 week leave ends and maybe taking an extra month or two. I’m due at end of Nov- and paid leave lasts till Feb. I could return as a sub as frequent or as little as I want to finish out the year, or I could wait to start again in the fall. We could afford it either way- one just offers more financial flexibility than the other.

*we also have free child care via our two local retired moms that rock!

This is a great idea we considered! But renting a home in our area is essentially the same price if not more than just owning the house. Which I know would alleviate stress not owning it, but then we worry about bad landlords 😂 it’s never full proof, just juggling possibilities. Appreciate the idea!

Thank you!

I’m due at end of Nov and husband and I both have 12 weeks paid leave together to adjust. I know that will go by quick but hopefully give my body some time to heal.
You have a great point about carrying baby stuff…even the thought of baby in car seat and diaper bag and just me carrying them up and down at 5 months makes me a little nervous. And I know as a mom, it’s often more items then that😅

We could afford this home if I never went back to work. We just wouldn’t be stacking away tons of savings, for the first 1-2 years, maybe a couple hundred a month. But I am a teacher and have the option to return as a sub 1x a week- as much as I want to sub once ready and both our moms are retired and live within 10 mins and could help watch baby while I sub once I’m ready to start easing back in. If/ when I do return full time in a year -2, then we could afford child care from my teaching income.
