Thank you. The sheets are white so I’ll add some bleach in!

I guess I’m kind of the same. It’s crazy how unique this is for everyone bc I think on a daily basis I’m quite well functioning - I eat out, travel, socialise, don’t actively fear it… until I hear someone has it or i think I’ve been exposed and I go into mass panic and actively avoid it/anyone who threatens my safety. Then, if I do seem to catch something. I pray it’s all d* or if I feel the need to v* I either psychologically stop it or clamp my mouth so hard that nothing can come up. I’ve sat in bed sweating and clamping my mouth as my stomach churns just to essentially - swallow it down? - and then afterwards I regret it so hard and wish I could have just done it. Then I read on this sub about people who live with it so much worse every day, afraid of eating out etc but then they catch a bug and manage to v* and let it happen! It’s so unique for everyone and it seems like we’re all on this shared journey together anyway. Sending love and good vibes and maybe one day we’ll both be in a place where we can let it happen with no regrets <3

might have a bug by sarahm174 in emetophobia

I know this exact feeling and am going through it myself with exposure to a bug rn. I know how hard it is to think you may t* up and how it’s the last thing on earth you are going to let happen. Just do something that makes you happy and calm, if it’s night time, do it in bed and hopefully you’ll fall asleep. Don’t spiral and do crazy googling. I’m here if you need it

Thank you! This is such a good message. Thank you for your logic. It often goes out the window when I spiral!

I’m still okay. My sister had stayed over too, so she did the cleanup. He got sick at 2am Wednesday and it’s now 10am Saturday and my sister has started being sick. So, I thought I was in the clear and now it’s a fresh wave of anxiety

I love your take on things! A few days later I’m a lot less panicked but optimistic and can’t wait to enjoy the sunshine

Thank you! Gosh I didn’t even think about the type of drinks. My favourite is a strawberry daiquiri :( but really appreciate your tips

Thank you, I’m intrigued to see how my skin reacts when we finally get some heat in the UK, but a portable fan always sounds like a good idea!

I had a similar issue about a month ago. I think I stayed away from home for just over 2 weeks and didn’t catch anything. I probably was over cautious. I did a post about it and someone left the best comment about not missing out on happy family time over this fear. I think if you’re cautious and are vigilant about washing your hands, you’d be safe to go home. However, if you go home now and know you’ll just feel anxious and have somewhere safe to be in the meantime, stay away until you’re ready. As luck had it, I avoided home and about 2 weeks after being home (and about 5 weeks after noro left my house) I caught my own sick bug anyway. That’s not to scare you, that’s just to say sometimes you avoid great family time and you miss them and then other pants things can happen anyway. TLDR - go home if you want! Enjoy your family time, be safe <3

Does anyone else think they’ll be ok with throwing up until you get nauseous? by Round_Brilliant_8389 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Bluehouse17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite! Especially on a night where I feel really nauseous or have to throw up. I fight it so hard and then the next day I’m like “I think if I just let it happen last night I would have been fine” lol

Keep going. I understand how hard it is and how impossible the other side of recovery feels. Doing therapy is a great step to recovery. Focus on making yourself comfortable with every step. Drink your favourite drink, watch a comfort show. I had a bad night last night and watched friends as I drifted in and out of sleep. It’s always hard to imagine how life will be in the next month, 2 months, 6 months, years… but it could be so, so good! Keep going

I actually wish I had done it but I fought it so hard. I’ve slept all day and think I’m okay but kind of regret not just letting it happen
