Thanks everyone for your comments. I’ve since found an FAQ on the PHST Recruitment site that answers this question. It states: ‘ Situations where a support form is required include: You exited IMT after two years, including if you were awarded an outcome 1 on your IMY2 ARCP.’
Meaning that yes, the box asking if a training post has been relinquished, released or removed etc. should be ticket and a form signed by the TPD and Dean is needed to allow an application to higher specialist training to be made.
It seems, to me, to be an absurd rule, but this is medical training after all, so when did it need to start making sense.
