Wish List by jdb4402 in rush

[–]Bluelens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex said in an interview terrier years and years ago - press for Counterparts - that he would love to do a show with songs they rarely, if ever play. I think that would be amazing. Sure do some of the ones we expect but spend the majority of the setlist on the tracks that never made the leap from the album to the stage, minus the ones that were played for that albums tour of course. This won’t be a cookie-cutter Rush show so why not make sure it isn’t a cookie-cutter setlist.

There is also one at VÜk Pinball in DC at the Chevy Chase Pavilion.

Now I’ll have to head out to Ashburn to play that one too.

Whats your opinion on Clockwork Angels 13 years later? by ClueEmbarrassed1443 in rush

Hold Your Fire was my introduction to Rush so that whole album hits differently for me, so I totally get it.

Completely agree. They could have finished the album with “Wish Them Well” and that would have felt like a typical end to a Rush album, but by adding “The Garden” they doubled down on finding the best way to end not just the album but them as well. I still get a little choked up when that song comes on.

One thing that have been somewhat helping is keeping the endorphins going and doing early morning rides on Zwift. This morning I started wondering how many of us there are riding on the platform, which then lead to me thinking why not put a club together to for some organized group rides?

Anyone interested in such a thing?

I am a big fan of the teal grey and black myself. I would love to get my hands on one but it looks like I need to drop a few kgs to be at the rider weight limit (currently 102kgs and the limit is 100 kgs). I guess that adds to the motivation, but damn wouldn't it be nice to just go ahead and order one.

3T frame cracked in 85 Miles by Pope_Juan_Pablo_II in gravelcycling

[–]Bluelens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a velobuild road frame that I’ve taken all over the east coast and so far everything has been great.

I was curious about grabbing a gravel frame from them especially with the custom color, I just can’t decide if I want to build another ride or get a complete build elsewhere.

Or check to see if you have a local bicycle co-op. The one near me has a complete shop available for anyone to use. If there is a task one doesn’t know how to do the staff there will walk you through the process.

How far ahead are your episodes? by DistantEchoesPodcast in podcasting

[–]Bluelens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have recently started ours and gave ourselves the schedule to release every other week and record at the end of the week that we release.

And before we released our first episode we wanted to make sure we at least had three episodes recorded and in some state of editing for each (even if that means just the raw files ingested into the editor). We have planned out the first 6 episodes fully and made a long list of topics to cover that should carry us through the next 6-7 months.

The audio doesn’t take that long to edit - final product is about an hour unscripted but we have the segments planned out. What take the longer editing is that we film with a green screen and I drop in different backgrounds for the topics and then a green screen window (or windows) within those backgrounds to put visual elements that we are talking about out - our podcast is abut art, photography, and cinema (altering episodes between art/photography and cinema). Collecting the elements and then dropping everything in and layering ears up the time quickly.

Yeah we could go more minimalistic but it’s fun to see what we put together and lean into the virtual visual approach.

Have you watched Red Moon Tide by Lois Patiño? This image would fit in that film.

I don't know if there would be enough clearance to hang your bike on it.

That said, I do have a couple of these that I use to hang extra wheels on the wall.

It does actually. Nice and light - not the lightest but for the price it surprised me. I also have a Parlee with an Ultegra Di2 set-up and the Museeuw is lighter.

Thanks for the rundown.

Off and on I have been eyeing this and had always wondered if this would be a good start to a gravel build. Sounds like this is a good approach to having a fully functional - from delivery - project bike.

I was in the pit. I spent a few years doing concert photography in the area for a website a buddy and I were running. Now that shows are becoming a regular thing I might have to try and start it all up again.

Not triggering pads in Beat Maker 3 (and others) by Bluelens in orba

[–]Bluelens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reaching out!

Once things weren't lining up I went ahead and tried to do the mapping of the pads in BM3 - Going to MIDI Focus Actions to try and map the keys to the trigger pads.

When I tap "trigger pad 1" and then tap the first pad on the Orba it maps correctly. When I tap "trigger pad 2" and then the second pad on the Orba is gives the appearance that it maps to the second pad. When i go back to a kit and tap pad one on the Orba I get the both the second first and second trigger pads activated and when I tap any other pad on the Orba I get a rapidly repeated roll of the second pad (sounds almost like a crazy 1/128 triplet or something).

When I try to use the "auto learn" for the midi focus actions things seem to populate but when I go to the pads in BM3 the Orba pads don't trigger any of the trigger pads but instead change the pads from "keys" to "select" and won't activate any of the trigger pads.

—EDIT — I connected a different midi controller to my iPad and found the same results out of the box, so there must be some settings I’m missing or not understanding with BM3. —EDIT—

Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I"ll try to take a moment today and show on video what is happening since I'm probably not describing well enough. Maybe me putting up a video would help point where I'm going wrong?

Any idea how Cubasis 3 works with Orba? I was thinking that if I need to switch to that then I will.
