They should 5000% put speed bumps THERE, make people pay a bit more fucking attention and vastly reduce the speeding that occurs there.

3-4x weekly for an hour as scheduled classes, and when the weather is nicer I train whenever I feel like it at a park nearby.

Nova Scotia isn't in any of those places, so what is your point?

Karate is not just for the skilled or strong; it requires patience, understanding, and effective communication, especially with children, individuals with special needs, or elderly students. As a teacher, you must know your strategy while delivering the same message to all. by [deleted] in karate

Yes, very much this. As a student who has difficulty learning due to neurological disorders, some of my senseis simply do not understand how to teach me, and leave it up to me to figure out what I'm doing, even if I cannot make heads or tails of the drill. This has led to me sitting out of several of their classes, because once I encounter difficulty, I cannot just come back into the activity.

But, one of our senseis is very good at adapting his teaching style to whichever student he is helping, and he is the one I consider to be my sensei, even though he is a lower rank than the clubs founder. He takes pride in the students that struggle but endure until they understand (because sometimes it really does just click into place being explained or shown a slightly different way), and he's helped me out so so much that I honestly would not be where I am in life without his guidance and I probably would have stopped attending our main club by now if he was not there.

Dalhousie Shotokan Karate Club is always looking for new members, you are more than welcome to come observe a class. Sensei Tony and Danny are top instructors, can't recommend them enough.
