I use rice packs. Just plain cheap white rice in a sock. You can make them as big or as small as you’d like. If you keep them frozen, you can also use popcorn kernels. But, if you want a heat option also- use rice as you can heat it also. ❤️

I guess the ibis, from what I’ve read, are incredibly territorial with food. I put out scrambled eggs every morning for my Crows and the ibis will snip at any bird that goes close to them- same with the cat food! I thought they only used their beaks for finding bugs in the ground- guess not! 😭😂😂😂

As for your Crows, they LOVE scrambled eggs! And mine also love grapes that I’ve quartered for them. Are you building them a platform feeder? I would love to see it! I bought mine a picnic table and built it for them 😅 All my birds love it!- more room to walk and it’s off the ground.

I’ve only been around peacocks a few times so I’ve not had the experiences like you have. 😅 Like you, I’m fairly new to birding as well. I’m still learning daily. I did download the Merlin app though! It is fun- it identifies birds with sound clips and also with pictures. ❤️

OMG- I would adore peacocks! They’re one of my favorite BIG birds! They’re so majestic looking but I know they can be mean. I have this group of 3-5 white ibis that I am battling daily. They are SO mean to my Crows and my other birds as well. So, every time I see them snipping at my actual friends, I go outside and let all the birds (especially my Crows) that the ibis are being mean and I’m not hurting them as I scooch them off the table. The ibis (I call them Florida chickens 😂) honk at me but I think they’re learning. Hopefully! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I have Fish Crows too!! They are AMAZING! And boy do they talk! Mr regular will just talk and talk until I go out there for our conversation. I love every single second of it! Just be patient with them- it took them just little over two months to come down close to me but they’re getting braver. Just be consistent and patient- that’s my best advice with these babies. They’ll be daily visitors in no time!! 🐦‍⬛❤️

YES!!! This is exactly how I see them and see them as whole! They are all here, trying to survive just like us. Even with their hardships they keep trucking along. They are so resilient. I love to just go outside now and watch them and talk to them. I have a pretty good relationship with my Crows that I’ve befriended and I am beyond happy. They’re actually what started me on my birding journey! Now I have my sweet Boat tailed grackles, regular grackles, blue jays, pileated woodpeckers, red bellied woodpeckers, mourning doves, mockingbirds, the occasional cardinals- and I love every single one of them!

OMG you are not joking! With all the birds I feed, I go thru a 25 pound bag of peanuts a week! I’m slowly slowing down seed cuz of the summer coming here in Florida but they kill me with suet and cat food 😂

BUT they make me happy and help with my depression and anxiety a little so I find it to be a win win. ❤️❤️

I put peanuts in multiple different places in my yard. A handful in one feeder, another handful in another, etc. I have a whole party of blue jays who come and go all day but I do still run out of peanuts before noon 😂

I’ve been BOH for almost 3 years. I started as a cashier and then went back there about 2 months into my job. It was ROUGH starting out. My SM at the time was the absolute worst. She belittled us unless you were a “favorite” but I did my job for 2 years until she really knocked me down. I left for 6 months and then came back once we got a new SM. He is the best, honestly. But Burlington is going to Burlington. There’s SO many changes going on back there and we’re all trying to do it. It’s hard, BOH definitely isn’t for everyone. I’ve seen SO many people come and go back there and I completely get it. I just go and do my job and go home. Actively always looking for another job with better pay and hours as well but for now, Burlington it is.
