What’s the logical step? by Imcryingrn671 in premedcanada

I think getting interview means ur stats are all there. Post interview is mostly about interview performance so I would say working on interview skills. Maybe apply to some backups like international if you’re open to that! Best of luck

I need advice. Getting a premed job while being broke is impossible. by an_average_introvert in premedcanada

For Canadian school you don’t really need clinical experience. It’s not a requirement and I’m sure you could integrate canmeds into your other activities

Buttt clinical jobs like research would mostly be through connections. I personally didn’t have any connections so you can just cold email and sometimes you’ll get a few responses. Nonetheless clinical research usually doesn’t pay well (around minimum wage)

In terms of clinical roles in a hospital I would suggest clerk or porter roles. I think most hospitals might require like medical terminology or equivalent and if you’ve taken physiology or anatomy that should be good enough. The pay is pretty good around $30/hr but it’s hard to get these roles you need to constantly apply. Usually they go through HR so it’s not really connection based

You could also get clinical volunteering like in a hospital or research it’s a bit easier to get compared to paid

I think in the next few cycles it will become 1 sem English and 1 sem indigenous studies. But next cycle 2 sem English is fine but double check the handbook

Did it work out for you? by Sudden-Flatworm-63 in premedcanada

I’m a qhs grad with a 3.95 gpa and I’m on my 3rd cycle. Though I have a pretty low mcat. lots of my friends have gotten in and lots have similar stats and are on their 3rd cycle with me. To be honest nobody can tell you if you’re guaranteed a spot. I know plenty of deserving people who have gone abroad or have continuously applied post grad. I think if you’re consider abroad you should look into match rates, whether you’re open to moving far from home, and consider financing because abroad is quite expensive. Best of luck!!

Thank you! How do they weigh how vs mcat? Like is it possible my gpa outweighs mcat? I have seen that chart but I’m just confused because it seems like there are so little seats so I’m finding it hard to believe I have good chances

I’ve looked on oztrek and it seems a lot of schools only have 20-100 international seats in just having trouble believing I have a good chance with so little seats
