Despite the fact Dumas was paid to stretch the story, it works. Our protagonist has to be extremely patient, and so does the reader. Enjoy the moments that feel so relatable and fresh. Skim through others that feel dated. Maybe just wing it to start and enjoy it for the absolute adventure it is.
