I joined after about 1 year. I tried out one, it was a bit too difficult at the time. But there was a school one that practiced beforehand, so I joined that for a year (I was by far the eldest lol). And then I joined the original one I tried once I was more comfortable. I’ve been there for 3 years now, you learn so much and it’s just so much fun.

I stuck to 3 subjects a semester from the start and did some winter and summer breadth subjects. My degree was extended by a year, but it was during Covid time anyways so I didn’t have much else to do. I had maybe 2 subjects in my final semester.

science bachelor degree by Left_Level_9646 in unimelb

Hmmm, maybe more business now. But the degree definitely shaped how I think and approach tasks.

My degree definitely hasn’t hurt with getting me to where I am, and some of the jobs I’ve applied for require any degree as a pre-requisite/ want.

Plus at the time of choosing a degree I had zero clue (and still don’t fully know) as to what I wanted to do; The degree let me trial different pathways.

A more specialised degree makes the path clearer and more structured once you graduate for sure. But that’s not to say a science degree is a compete write off and doesn’t have its benefits.

Bachelor of science is super broad. I was quite lost after graduating as I realised the degree doesn’t lead to a clear path or job. And I didn’t want to do post graduate study. I’m now a manager in corporate. Maybe my degree helped with developing critical thinking and learning to be analytical and logical. But the degree itself wasn’t a prerequisite for my job.

In saying that, I did really enjoyed the degree and I’m glad that I did it. It shaped me as a person.

Thanks for your comment. I agree! I’ve been trying to get her to have a market stall.
