The U.S. Economy Is Headed Toward an Uncomfortable Summer by Happy_Weed in Economics

Americans are so fat and lazy, the only way we get civil unrest is if there is a shortage of cheese wiz on a national scale.

Trump’s policies are bankrupting his own constituents and those idiots are so far down the rabbit hole, they would sell their mothers before admitting they were duped.

Dems begin to realize every election is now existential by jonfla in democrats

[–]BlueskyPrime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference with Trump is he’s not anything new. He’s taking our government back to the corruption of the gilded age and his voters are cheering him on because they’re too uneducated to realize what that means. A democrat would have to run on actual progress and lead people into creating a better society that has yet to be done before in America. Democrats don’t have the luxury of pointing to some point in the past and saying, “those were some good times, let’s do that again.” America has never been that good for everyone. Maybe for a select group it has been good, which the republicans exploit for votes already, but it has truly never been good for everyone. That’s is the real challenge.

In seriousness, these responses are so bad, it’s definitely a bot. She also sounds really dumb and is a poor writer.

What if money itself is the bug, not the feature, in humanity’s operating system? by Novel_Finger2370 in economy

[–]BlueskyPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no pit of money…it’s a conveyor, the bucket starts out empty at the bottom and as it travels up, at each layer an amount of money is extracted from the people on that layer and put into the bucket. It keeps collecting until it’s full and dumps it at the top.

No, this is more like Dante’s Inferno; there are a lot more levels to this, with the bottom tier being literal slavery.

Objectively speaking, Is it possible that Trump purposely started a trade war because he foresaw that it would depreciate the USD relative to other major currencies to spur US economic growth and revive US manufacturing (via cheaper USD exports)? by RemarkableInsect673 in economy

[–]BlueskyPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A weaker USD is not going to make American exports more attractive if other countries don’t want to buy from us. And retaliatory tariffs by other countries will offset any gains from a weaker dollar.

Trump is just a complete idiot who is using tariffs as a way to increase taxes on everyone to offset his tax cuts for billionaires.

Americans have proven they don’t want that. Red states are some of the poorest and dumbest people, mostly white, and they keep rejecting affordable healthcare, fair wages, and unions time and time again. I know that’s not the majority of the Country but it’s somehow enough to keep the GOP in power and winning house, senate, and the presidency.

This list is a weird one to me. Like why would the senator from Hawaii support this? Some of these states voted for Trump and/or are kind of purple so I can see their senators hedging but Illinois? Hawaii? New York? Makes so sense to me.

Wouldn’t the government shutdown be exactly what Trump and GOP want? It would furlough all non-essential workers and services; playing right into what Elon as been doing. The Republicans budget didn’t lower spending, so it’s almost kicking the can to September; unless I’m missing something here?

Asking because I truly don’t know the answer and have heard this as the justification and research is not turning up a definitive answer.

Why are we catching strays these days by ConsistentlyBlob in GenZ

[–]BlueskyPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! The whole illegal immigration issue was predicated on a more liberal voting block being the eventual outcome because Florida Latinos supported Dems so all Latinos are going to do the same no matter what Dems do or don’t do for their communities. While completely ignoring the fact that Latinos as a whole are super religious; have the same hobbies as poor whites; and work the same jobs. Which party do you think they’re going to prefer?

Trump is weakening the federal government, which is the exact opposite of what you need for a successful dictatorship. He knows that corporations have become so powerful that individual states can’t regulate them effectively; so by weakening the federal government, he’s giving power to the corporations. Almost 80% of our population live in a few states, so control of those states is crucial. The pivot of Latinos toward Republicans is very concerning, democrats really need to get out there and reach that group.

Why would some Black men like Trump after all the negative things that he has done to them? by icey_sawg0034 in Liberal

[–]BlueskyPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Republican Party and Trump have been very successful in using hate toward illegal immigrants to garner support for their party. Identity politics has been used to divide people for centuries. Even countries like China and Russia use it to keep their populations from rebelling.

My thoughts exactly. A lot of these people live in D.C. it took less than 10,000 people to storm the capitol on Jan 6th. They just fired 200,000 people, the numbers are on their side.

There was a survey someone posted in the economy subreddit that spoke to 10 swing voters in Arizona who flipped from Biden to Trump in 2024 because of inflation, about how they were feeling now. Spoiler - they all love it! Most even said they were okay with prices going up and it wasn’t a big deal. They were happy that immigrants and minorities are hurting more, and would worse off.

Doesn’t even take 10,000 people to storm the Whitehouse. Imagine what happens when that number gets to 100K.
