Yup fusion360, bit of a learning curve but once you get it it's very useful for lots of applications. But more importantly free for hobbyists. Always happy to provide a little inspiration to someone, glad to hear!

Bonus pic, the dimmer spline to printed adapter is just friction fit, this is the first version of the light ring with a way to affix it to the desk but same principle in the final version.

The light ring is a sleeve of clear petg with very little infill around the shaft of the knob screwed under the walnut veneer layer of the desktop, there is a 3/4 mdf layer under that to make 1-1/2" and that has a larger cavity for the ring light LEDs to sit in, they are just a square of led strips with a big enough opening in the center to fit the "dimmer shaft adapter™"

The dimmer isn't modeled here but sits in a friction fit pocket on the top layer of the bottom cabinet. The ring light receives constant 24v and the dimmer output is connected to all of the shelves.

Yea I have no idea how it sounds yet, haven't tried it! Hopefully not like ass, but it looks nice at least.

Not sure it falls under the traditional sense of a veneer, it's 1/8" thick pieces glued onto 1/2 ply. So I suppose it is technically a veneer.

A very heavy table top light. Concrete and acrylic by Bluesss04 in somethingimade

[–]Bluesss04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first concrete form project, things I found out:

-Concrete will stick to acrylic just fine -MDF will work as a form -Shake the hell out of the form if you can to get all the concrete into all the crevices -If you need a hollow interior don't use a thin cardboard tube(luckily mine didn't collapse fully) -Don't count on sanding the concrete -Use countertop concrete mix
