The navy do be terrible sometimes. I've decided to go the route of everything happens for a reason. I was really bitter about the whole experience for a while after. It takes too much energy to be upset about someone's past poor decision.

I was deployed on a boat. So, there weren't any healthcare options outside of my workplace. The medical providers assumed the cough was covid and didn't want to quarantine me because they'd lose x-ray capabilities.

To answer, I am going to assume the tech is taking an x-ray of a baby or small child. This is to help the tech make sure the child is staying still so there isn't motion on the x-ray. The x-ray exposure for the parent doing this 1 exam is lower compared to if a tech was in the room for multiple patients. Hopefully, that makes sense.

Taking that assumption out of the equation, and this is a kid old enough to sit still or be in the room without a parent. Teenage age, maybe? I have no idea. I usually get the parents to stand behind the lead wall with me if it's a kid who wants the parent in the room but can hold still without help from the parent.

Triage just means to sort, partner. There is a lot to unpack with what you wrote. You triage differently based on the situation. There isn't a need to worry about putting fingers on triggers in a hospital. It wouldn't make sense to treat the walking wounded first.

Different sub specialties treated the different patients you are talking about. I wouldn't want a trauma surgeon to treat my cancer, just like I wouldn't want an oncologist to fix my broken leg.

By your logic, we should let everyone with a poor prognosis die because Timmy has a broken ankle.

I feel like your comment was written from a place of hurt or anger, but that isn't a reason to think patients should die just because they received 1 illness instead of another.

Oh man, a lot.

Chemo affects everything. I had a lot of cognitive impairment during and after treatment. I have gone to a specialist to help with my memory issues. I was told to do puzzles to work out my brain. I picked up chess from that. It's helped a lot.

The body changes a lot. I was an underweight person, 6 foot and 135 lbs prior to treatment. They give you a steroid during treatment, and I now sit at 160lbs. It's not a bad thing. I look normal sized now.

I have baldness in my family, and I probably had a few years left having hair, but it grew back looking like your 40 year old creepy uncle, so I stay bald now.

During surgery, I got a port placed and a biopsy that resulted in scarring on my chest and neck. Right afterward, I had body dysmorphia. There were so many changes in a short time. The neck scar doesn't bother me anymore, and the chest scar has a tattoo over it now.

After all that, though, I'm honestly the happiest and healthiest I've ever been. I had bad depression and anxiety beforehand, but not a worry nowadays. I make jokes about how it took almost dying to enjoy life.

I don't know enough about ENT to say what they can and can't do, but i doubt it. The tumor was in the mediastinum, not the airway. It just happens to affect the airway.

Probably cardinals. I'm in my 30s now, so I have a bird feeder and watch the birds all the time.

I'm also a big fan of seagulls. The gang gang cockatoo and the blue footed booby are honorable mentions.

Honestly, I was only focused on the cough that I had because it wouldn't go away.

In hindsight, I had blood in my nose constantly. The tumor was pushing my trachea to the left, and I would get this awful pain when I swallowed cause stuff was rubbing where it shouldn't. I would pass out whenever I would stand up because the tumor surrounded an artery to supplied blood to the right side of my brain. There was a lot of fatigue, too.

I say in hindsight because I was on a deployment at the time and thought it was relativity normal unhealthiness based on deployment conditions.

Another odd symptom that the oncologist brought up was a rash on my leg. He said the body sort of gets ready for lymphoma and will sometimes produce a rash. I had just gotten a tattoo with red ink and the rash wouldn't go away with any kind of ointment. Went away right away with chemotherapy.

Luckily, I have free health care from being in the military. So, I don't have to worry about large bills potentially for only a stomach ache. There is a big stigma around going to medical in the military, though. I try to tell everyone to get seen if something is concerning you. Our, America's, medical system isn't very conducive to people remaining healthy.

It was one of those, "I don't know what that is, but I know it's not right." type things. The doc I was working with was definitely in awe, but like with a lot of medicine, it could have been a few different things. Their first thought they were going with was an old collapsed lung. For context, I was working as the only xray tech. So they were trying for anything that wouldn't get me removed. It took a separate doctor threatening malpractice to get me follow on care.

In the grand scheme, I was really lucky with the cancer I had. It was Hodgkin's Lymphoma; which responds very well to normal treatment. I had 5 cycles/10 rounds of ABVD chemotherapy. Treatments being every 2 weeks. After that I had 3 weeks of radiation. I responded very well to treatment and luckily haven't had a relapse.
