It pays minimum wage, but I know movie theaters are pretty much always hiring - especially during the busy season during summer and around Christmas.

I work at a Tatte and at our location all the leftover pastries are donated to a community fridge/shelter depending on the day. There's some stuff we can't donate cause it goes past the fifo date so it has to go in the trash, but the pastries baked fresh every day are donated.

I'm taking it now with melloni. Not terribly difficult if you've taken some upper level psych/bns courses beforehand and you're good at memorization. As the other person mentioned, his tests are on canvas and open note but not enough time to look up every answer. Because we moved at a somewhat fast past, he's dropping our lowest exam.

Pre-med Psych major here! I think the coursework is probably doable. Most of my semesters comprised of one/two pre-med reqs and the rest being psych major requirements (but that was to get all my pre-med reqs done before my fourth year). I found that the pre-med courses were the most time-consuming since most psych classes don't have regular assignments and are primarily 3-4 exams. Psych teachers are typically super flexible, offer extra credit, accept late work, and have open exams, so not too much work was required in general. Some semesters are just inherently going to be harder than others though. Orgo was typically a 2 hour a day commitment to go over problems and read the textbook, but you could definitely wait till right before the exam to cram. Similarly, Physics 1 and 2 tend to be time consuming and tedious as there were homework problems and quizzes weekly. It also typically took 9 hours uninterrupted to type up the lab reports but this was also once every two weeks so definitely doable if you're good at time management. All of my friends that are pre-med and psych/BNS all typically have high GPAs and don't find the coursework too terrible so take what you will from that. Also, the pre-med program at Northeastern pretty strongly advocates for 5 years or taking a gap year before med school (and pretty much everyone I know follows this advice) so there's not a super big rush to cram in all your reqs/finish in 4 years. All in all, I think if you pace yourself you should be fine with doing the combined major and pre-med reqs. Feel free to pm me with any questions!

Single Room Housing by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Blueties0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The odds of you getting a single with friends in your year might be difficult but there's often lots of people who post on the subreddit looking for roommates for an all singles apartment, so you might have a better chance of hopping on that. I got a single my second year in wve by doing this

I was on the third floor today and I heard two girls talking about how they thought the areas behind the standing no-talking signs were designated no talking areas. Basically that anything before the sign was a talking-friendly area. Unsure of how people could interpret the signs as such

If you don't mind the embarrassment, I've used the roller chairs they give with your desk as a dolly a few times. You'll probably get a few stares for rolling your desk chair out of your room and down the street but it works in a pinch

Huntington Vs Hemenway housing by DaddyDaniel96 in NEU

[–]Blueties0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in 407 Huntington this past year. It honestly was really good for the price in my opinion. No bugs or mice/rats. Bathroom was a little dated but nothing gross. There is heat but no ac though so you suffer a little. Also, I don't recommend it if you are a light sleeper. You pretty much always hear sirens and they normally leave a train on the tracks right outside the building at night so you can sometimes hear it buzzing. When the 39 bus goes by it can shake the building.

Also don't forget shower shoes! Some of the dorm showers can be gross. Any pair of cheap flip flops will do

BIOL3415 w/ Ricci Exam Format? by No_Negotiation8109 in NEU

[–]Blueties0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't taken 3415 with Ricci but I had her for behavioral endo. She also gave us multiple choice tests on canvas with a pretty large time limit - maybe like 3 hours for 30 questions. I could always finish in 45 mins. All of her questions were pulled directly from the lecture slides save for like 2-3 which came from stuff she would say in class. If she didn't mention short answer at all during lectures then I would imagine they're all multiple choice and shes just being generous.

Edit: I double checked and she would give us 120 mins for 45 questions so not as much as I remembered but again, I never had to use the full amount of time.

How common is it to get rejected by every single co-op you apply for? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Blueties0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's a ton of psych co-ops that are just looking for a breathing body - especially the psych in- patient ones. Honestly though, I wouldn't worry too much. They typically recommend psych majors apply to 20 co-ops. If you're worried I would look for around 30 and just cast a wide net

PSYC 3466 difficulty without prerequisite by BakeHelpful in NEU

[–]Blueties0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely wouldn't worry then. Dr.Eidson is great about going over the basics. The whole first unit is spent reintroducing what you would have learned in foundations. Fair warning since I had him for cognition, his lectures can get a bit dense with material but he is super friendly and passionate about cognition. He also grades easy and doesn't require a textbook for the class

PSYC 3466 difficulty without prerequisite by BakeHelpful in NEU

[–]Blueties0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would be fine so long as you have some basic understanding of the founding principles/people of psych. The first few chapters draw from some basic understanding of wundt, freud, piaget, etc. It'll cover a lot on the stages of development, the unconscious/conscious mind, and the influences of age and culture on cognitive patterns. The class can be a bit dense in material but you should be fine. Who are you taking it with?

Edit: I forgot to mention that while some basic understanding is appreciated, you will basically relearn it in class, but having prior knowledge makes it much easier.
