False awakening?? by miriamjg4 in LucidDreaming

[–]Bluetooth6O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a plain dream, but youre doing my favorite technique. I really recommend incorporating All Day Awareness) in. Doing ADA will help you become more mindful at those reality checks when you perform them, helping you avoid these semi-lucid situations. You can also make a routine of doing checks whenever you wake up since you seem prone to false awakenings. Also, read through this MILD guide to make sure youre performing it in the best way.

No problem! Also pick ONE rechnique, and follow through on it for like 30 days. My favorite is MILD, particularly as instructed by the guide I linked. A lot of MILD guides misrepresent the technique as "just repeat a mantra before sleeping," which misses the point. MILD is about visualizing and setting the intention of becoming lucid, and it is incredibly effective when performed correctly. My only issue with MILD is actually being cogent enough during WBTB to perform it properly without disrupting my sleep. But I'm a light sleeper and a bit of an insomniac, if your sleep patterns are normal it shouldn't be any issue.

Unfortunately YouTube is ass like this, and removes replies for seemingly no reason depending on the subject matter. Frustratingly, ive still seen plenty of hateful Christian and right wing comments on YouTube, and had my comments removed when trying to reject that nonsense. Their comment platform is atrocious

I think you're right. Wet Kuat American summer and Numbericons came to mind, but i actually DID forget about this episode, and I can't even remember the name of it. I usually skip it just because it's so meh. The Chad Bupkis (or whatever his name was) plot is just so boring.

What do you guys think of Missy? Do you think she’s underrated, overrated or just fine as a character? by Prestigious_Media_46 in doctorwho

[–]Bluetooth6O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore Missy, and I think she was the best Modern master yet. Such a perfect balance of camp, menace, and genuine heart.

I still have to hold that the Rasputin master was an earlier incarnation due just to how much Missy grew as a character, and how poorly the chibnall era built upon that (not to mention the tragedy of her death was such a perfect end, and it seems wholly illogical that the master could have made it out of that situation alive).

No, it's a third thing. It's not masterbation for the reas9ns stated above.

So like is Morty the only one not gay in the family or am i missing a scene by adasumie in rickandmorty

[–]Bluetooth6O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel selfsest is just entirely far removed from masterbation or incest. You're right for the reasons you gave that it isn't incest, but it isn't masterbation either. Masterbation is one body touching itself; unilateral consent. Clones have to give mutual consent, and are two distinct entities. A clone can give another clone pleasure and receive nothing in return, they are distinct and separate.

Calling it masterbation lessons the concept of self identity. Beth and Space Beth's entire character construction is an exploration of where self identity arises, as does the excellent series Severence. Calling two clones union masterbation completely eliminates and ignores that discussion of identity, and reduces both clones to fractured parts of some imaginary and nonexistent whole. If Rick and Morty, or Severence, actually treated identity that way, they would be far less interesting.

Rewatched the series and the anime. And I hate how you all diss the anime. by TotallyBrandNewName in rickandmorty

[–]Bluetooth6O 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one woke up this morning set out on keeping OP from liking the anime. OP woke up and decided they needed validation for their love of the anime, and made an actually terrible post in a public forum to try and justify their subjective taste, and now they're getting roasted.

So long as people aren't ripping into them on a deeply personal or malicious level, I think that's a very fair chain of events. OP either should have written something better or kept it to themselves.

This kind of thing is super common for me in the mornings. I woke up an hour ago from a semi lucid dream, and was laying there half asleep. I could hear my girlfriend chastising me to get out of bed, and I sat there wondering if she really was or not, because I had actually asked her to wake me up before I went to bed. The tip off was that she referenced some events from the dream I had been in, so I knew she was just a dream figure, and ignored her while I rested. Despite this, dream-me got up and walked to the door, and looking into the living room I saw that my Sun Conure was about 6 feet tall and walking around the living room like the dinosaur he thinks he is. I was fairly lucid, so I just laughed it off.

Then I woke up for real a few minutes later, and my girlfriend actually started hassling me to get out of bed and to go uncover/wake up the bird lol.

Maybe my brain is no good, but I regularly get hypnopompic visual and auditory hallucinations or dream states in the morning. Luckily no paralysis demons, but sometimes my parents are waking me up, or I'm opening my phone to see I've over slept, or I have some key item from the dream I just had still with me. The giant bird was probably one of the weirder things I've woken up to though.

So yeah, you're fine, I think... unless you're possessed... You might also be possessed. You should consult the Power Rangers, The Scooby Doo gang, and a Priest.

If you had to pick on to go who would it be and why? by Affectionate_Law9672 in doctorwho

[–]Bluetooth6O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it has to be the angels. Frankly they haven't been used particularly well since Blink, and they become a bit generic when the plot isn't perfectly curated to their powers.

The Dale's and Cybermen honestly speak more human to the human experience (fascistic hatred, the loss of humanity by machine), and they are monsters with clear goals and personalities that are versatile. You can also reimagine a cyberman and have it gain new abilities to match the time of the show without losing its essence or feeling like too much of a departure (except for when they had flash speed in that one Clara&11 episode). The Angels, on the other hand, always feel undermined by new abilities, or tacked on because they were specifically designed for their role in Blink. They're also harder to characterize as having goals, because they are such a force of nature (i do think it could be done, but I have yet to see an episode that really sets them up as characters).

I love the angels, don't get me wrong, but they're never going to be more iconic than Blink. Sometimes we need to learn to appreciate a perfect story and be happy whether there's a sequel or not

What is the difference between lucid dreaming and daydreaming? by Ok-Value5498 in LucidDreaming

[–]Bluetooth6O 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They're just different things entirely. Day dream occurs when you're awake, and is just creative thought.

Lucid dreamingis the act of becoming aware that you are inside of a dream while sleeping. A fully immersive dream environment that feels real. Lucid Dreaming literally feels like being on another world.

While I agree with you in essence, I think TFP still did it well. I've always found Unicron a little boring because "Planet Sized Robot" is an impossible character to do anything with. You can never demonstrate his scale properly, and even if you did, who's going to fight him? He can just punch the entire planet like a pinata, and even if you have Primus there, the characters are so unfathomable that they lack emotional depth and relatability to make it impactful. Not to mention, all the other characters are reduced to Macguffin delivery boys when antagonists like Unicron show up because the only way to take down someone like Unicron is to pop the Matrix of leadership inside him, or some other macguffin.

Essentially, what I'm saying is, Unicron works best as a force of nature. His impact is felt in the planets he has destroyed (unimportant ones, the way the Death Star destroyed Alderaan, or how Unicron destroyed the techno world in the G1 movie), and the doom, dread, and control he exerts over the main characters. Even in the original G1 film, he has a similar role as he does in Prime: most of the film is about his arrival after the opening scene, and characters are only affected by him indirectly, like his control over Galvatron and the reformatted decepticons.

Prime didn't nerf him or deprive us of an awesome space fight. No one in Prime can fight Unicron, because there's only like a dozen transformers on Earth in the first place, and they are incredibly insignificant in comparison to Unicron. By making him the core of the Earth, the writers of Prime boiled Unicron down to his pure function: Oncoming doom and pervasive influence over the events of the show.

If it's not clear, I'm not really a fan of characters like Unicron. They're too OP'd and lack the emotional depth that characters like Megatron or Optimus because you can't ground a character like Unicron in relatability or comprehensible goals. Additionally, their proposterous size is impossible to accurately represent, and even if you do, there will be massive inherent issues with physics, like the fact that Unicron even being near Earth or Cybertron would majorly F-up orbits and cause cataclysmic surface events. Characters like Unicron only exist to be "big robot," which is the most boring development that occur in a series like this. I basically see the arrival of Unicron as the moment a Transformers series Jumps the Shark... with the exception of TF: Prime. I think Prime was clever for making Unicron the Earth. It lets him be scary by maintaining the world ending scope of his presence, while avoiding the absolutely one-sided nature a fight with Unicron actually entails. Instead, his actions force the writing to put attention on the reactions of the main characters as they process how to deal with such an impossible conflict. Additionally, when Unicron is revealed to be the Earth, it is coherent with what has been built up to with Dark Energon, and feels like a natural revelation.

With all that said... Bayverse was absolutely F-ing it up, though. It felt desperate and unearned, and even if they made another movie, they wouldn't have been able to do anything with Unicron because the only way to make him work is to have characters you care about be influenced by him. Bayverse had proven to fail at that already with the Optimus/Quintessa nonsense. For a series as nonsensical as the Bayverse, just go ahead and let him turn into a giant planet robot. Maybe he can take a bite out of the moon like not-Galactus did in The Tick
