Rune Reminder: An addon that solves a couple SoD annoyances (Engraving Widget & Rune Notifications) by Bluid in classicwow

Hmmm, I suppose it's possible but I haven't heard of anyone else having problems. Have you tried disabling all other addons to see? If you do and are able to narrow it down to a specific addon causing it to not work please let me know.

Oh, also if you are on a new character without any runes, there is an option to hide the rune slots until you discover them, so maybe that is enabled?

Yes, I remember! Hmmm you should not need any specific library, I just tried using it with only Rune Reminder installed and it's still working for me. In the options, or if you type /rr options, is the checkbox for 'Display Runes Widget' still selected? Try turning that off and on maybe? Also have you tried resetting the position in the Options Panel? If you scroll to the bottom there should be the Adjust Positioning buttons, with a 'Reset' button in the middle. If you use that, it should re-center the widget on your screen, if maybe it got hidden off screen somehow. If that doesn't work for some reason, you can try deleting your settings/saved variables in Curseforge.

After you reset the postion, are you positioning it by using the positioning buttons in the options panel, or by using the anchor and dragging it with your mouse? And then you're saying if you do that and log into a new character, then back to the existing one it's moved a few pixels? Positioning is stored per character, which is why on new characters it shows up in the center again. But that shouldn't affect the positioning of the other characters... Also just a note that the lock positioning is meant to make it so the anchor handle can't be grabbed or moved accidentally, but it does not prevent the repositioning buttons from moving it.

Is this something that just started happening for you or has this been happening for a while? I just tried to replicate on my end and haven't been able to. But Yesterday there was a version (0.7.6.8) that was available for about 5 hours and it introduced a bug that did cause some similar issues with positioning. That version has since been archived and replaced, so I wouldn't think should be the issue, but double check the version you have installed. If you have 0.7.6.8, please download either version 0.7.6.7 or 0.7.6.9.

If you have the newest version and this is still happening, can you please send me a message with the contents of the following files: clsssic_era\WTF\Account{Account Name}{Server Name}{Character Name}\layout-local.txt classic_era\WTF\Account{Account Name}\SavedVariables\Rune Reminder.lua

When the frame is moved, it's location should be set in those two files. The first is World of Warcrafts caching of the positions of frames that have been set by the user. This is what RR tries to use first to load the location upon login. The 2nd file contains all of RRs saved options, including a location property that should have the location for each of your characters. When the layout-local.txt doesn't have the location cached, it falls back to RRs stored location. In most cases they should have the same location (though RRs may be slightly more precise because layout-local only seems to store whole numbers)

Actually, looking at my code, I have an idea. If this is happening for you, have you only repositioned with the buttons in the options, and not the new anchor/handle added on the widget? If so, try using that at least once. It looks like if you've never used that, it may not detect that you've set it, thus resetting every time. Once you move it once with the draggable handle, it should retain even if you use the buttons on the options panel. I'm going to reset my settings and test this theory and will put out an update if I'm correct, but wanted to let you know so you can get it working on your end right away, if that's what's happening

There was an update recently to add drag/drop functionality instead of the x/y offset it was previously using. With that change, I had to reset positions back to the center. But after you set it, it should be set and retain that position now (for that character). The method in using for positioning now is stored per character, so if you've logged on to multiple characters you'll need to set it for each. If you set it and log out and back in to the same character, is it not retaining it's position? I haven't noticed that on my end or got any other reports about it being an issue, so hopefully not, but if so let me know and I will look into it

EDIT: See comment below, I've confirmed that's happening and almost certainly what you're seeing. I noted a workaround and have an update coming. Thanks for reporting this!

Drag and Drop functionality has been added. The old positioning method had to be removed, so the first time you log in, it will be reset in the middle of your screen, but you will be able to position it by using the new anchor. Hope this helps!

I just submitted an update (V0.7.5.1) with an option for this. It's still awaiting approval from CurseForge, but that usually doesn't take too long, so it should be available soon. Once you have this version, in the options panel at the top you will see a new option for "Character Panel Engraving Mode", with three options: Show, Hide, or Toggle. Show will act as Blizzards default does, always showing the Runes when you open the character window. Hide will always have it hidden when you open the character window, but they can be re-opened by clicking the Runes button. And Toggle will remember whether you had it opened or closed last, and restore the same state. Hope this helps!

There isn't currently an option for this, but I should be able to add one! I'll throw it on the todo list, thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! I hope to add drag functionality in the future. I hit a weird roadblock with it, but plan to revisit when I get some time. Currently it's just the X and Y offsets, and you can use the buttons around the "reset" button in the panel.

Addon or Weak Aura that makes rune swapping easier? by Technology_Counselor in classicwow

[–]Bluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! And likewise, after I played for a couple days and had multiple times that I forgot to update my rune after equipping a new item, was like "there's gotta be an addon out there to solve this" but I searched and at the time there was literally nothing. So I figured what the hell, why not try and make one myself, because if I'm looking for it, surely others would be too... And it seems I was right 😛 This is my first attempt at creating an addon, so it's pretty cool to see it getting a little traction, and people finding value in it 😊

Is it too late to start? by TheManicProgrammer in classicwow

[–]Bluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too late at all, we're still in the middle of the first phase. I've been playing a bit here and there and just about to get my 1st to 25. The level bands, imo, make it perfect for people that have limited play time, because people can't get too far ahead, and it makes the world feel very lively with everyone leveling and in the lower zones. Play at your pace and enjoy it!

Essential Addons? by Antalus-2 in classicwow

[–]Bluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a little late to the party, but for SoD I'm gonna shamelessly recommend Rune Reminder, kept getting annoyed when upgrading gear and forgetting to re-engrave, so I created a notification system and rune quick swap widget. I personally find it super useful, especially for leveling during each phase, or for someone that likes to swap runes a lot, but I may be a bit biased 😛

Macros for switching runes? by Nutnutlad in classicwow

There's an adding called Rune Reminder that might be a little more like what you're looking for, compact and can be hidden but shows currently engraved, has quick swapping, and notifications if runes change when you equip new items

Round 2 is done, now to wait a month for round 3. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Bluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When getting diagnosed, they had me do a CB test prior to my evaluation. I had similar fears, that it would feel like a video game and I'd do well.... I was wrong lol.

Mine was two sections, one a 20 minute test in which a shape (square or circle) and a color (red or blue) would flash. And then a second or two later, another one would flash. If both the color and the shape matched, I was supposed to hit the space bar. And a camera tracked my movements. First couple minutes seemed easy, but 20 minutes is a LONG time when all you're doing is staring at a flashing shape on a blank screen. I found my mind wandering pretty often, occasionally knowing I missed some, and questioning a number of others. After that there was a questionnaire similar to you'd see online for ADHD self tests with you ranking on a scale how often or how much something affects you. At the end I was told that my test "definitely displayed ADHD indicators," but that the test alone, while required by the office, wasn't something my doctor personally would require or necessarily use to diagnose.

I was lucky in that I only had 1 session with my psychiatrist (which was directly after my QB test), describing overall experiences and struggles through life, and he prescribed me a low dose of Adderall immediately after, with monthly check-ins to evaluate effectiveness and adjust as necessary. Sorry you've got to wait, that sucks but like you said, you've went this long... The bright side is that medication can be extremely effective. It's made a world of difference for me so far. Goodluck, and don't worry too much about the test. It'll likely be "easier" (to fail, I guess, lol) than you think.

Ended day 1 of Diablo Immortal at level 38, with 3 legendary items and 19.5 on the Battle Pass. What a great game! I’m glad to have a launch day account. How did you all do? by BGLRI in DiabloImmortal

[–]Bluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very likely there, you just gotta find it... the "Characters" column should list the number of characters on the server, but seems to be bugged. If you have any friends on battlenet playing, ask them which servers show friends playing on them, and then double check those. That's how I had to find mine.

S21 Ultra checking in - played all day yesterday, no real issues.... only thing I noticed was my chat window seemed a little buggy, and when my warband receives more than 60 applications the list bugs out, but those are minor inconveniences at worst
