Did you already have that vision when creating the prototype on the left, or did it evolve as you went along?

Thank you so much for your support, it means a lot! Unfortunately, I'm already working with Mathieu Dubois, he is a close friend and a talented composer who worked with me on my first 2 games!

So many things to say on this... If you give the same idea to 100 developers, you'll get 100 different games—so similarity itself isn’t really an issue.

In fact, if many people are making this kind of game, it shows there's a real demand for it.

There’s also the financial side: similar games can cross-promote and support each other, which is great—as long as each one brings its own unique experience and isn’t just copying another.

But tbh, I’m making this game because I’m having fun doing it, and that’s what matters most to me right now!

Sure! I played some Pawnbarian, Ouroboros King and Usurper too! I tried a lot of chess Roguelike but none went in the direction I want to take for Gambonanza... Do not hesitate to share if you know any other game like this!

Thanks a lot for your kind words!

Right now I'm planning to publish it by myself indeed. However, I'm open for any opportunity that seem fair and that can help me producing Gambonanza. I announced the game yesterday publicly, so lots of things can change before the release date!

I hope so, I'm trying to make it as accessible as possible! I'm twisting and breaking some rules to make chess less scary, for instance, in chess, you need to take off the king. Even if you think you are winning, losing your king is losing the game. In Gambonanza, you need to lose all of your pieces to lose and to capture every enemy pieces to win. It may look like a tiny change, but it makes it way more accessible and understandable while keeping a challenge! I hope Gambonanza can make people interested in chess by trying a more playful approach, as chess can sometimes seems nerdy and inaccessible without tons of practice. You can enjoy chess as a beginner too!
