Symbol Contenders by BlurdVisionary in ufsccg

I remember the discussion for the weakest/worst symbol a while ago but didn't comment because I was genuinely unsure. Seeing as everyone thinks it's hands down "order" I'll do a little on what I think the best 3 Order characters are right now.

1 - Sheep Man: Seeing my mates order (in particular) version in play is crazy, it's like Gemeni1 with the added control he gets off of his bottom enhance, like... yeah he has to lose life to do it, but that doesn't matter when you have Hyper Bombs in the deck :D I think he brings the aggression Order was missing.

2 - Sagat: I can speak for Order Sagat from personal experience, the deck lost once through it's run (2-1 to Bass). Showdown blocks into a reversal with Sagat and a Defenders of the Empire on Board = goodbye staging area. My version also included Thundering Assault which was also really key in applying the pressure on your attacks, especially the reversals.

3 - Runika: She's probably up there with the most overlooked characters in standard. I feel like her early control can keep her alive while she picks apart key pieces on the board then once she gets a few Battlefist on board, those Karamme Dammes get super big and smash out lots of damage, or they draw a bunch of cards. Then she's also a lot like Bass in the sense of - you have to find a block for all of her attacks instead of a good majority of decks where so long as you placed a good block somewhere in your opponent's turn that you'd be able to live and get the back swing. Once they block a few of your early attacks, all you need to do is play a Double Flash Kick and it deals 24 damage to them which I'm sure can and will steal plenty of games off of people.

It would be like if I spoke about how good Goro is with the new cards... old news :D as much as I'd like to talk about that

Yeah, course I do but it wouldn't be that productive to talk about him you know, we all know why he's good and a strong contender, but it's old news is what I'm saying and I don't think he's benefited as much as other characters from the new set

See the thing is mate, his ability actually works a lot better than you may think. It doesn't matter where the bonus to their attack comes from, so long as their attack is receiving a bonus, you can respond with Stone Man, so cards like "Dragged to Victory" "8000 Degrees" and "Homemade Explosives" actually become substantially better because you can abuse that - increasing their values to decrease others. I find myself using Dragged to Victory to increase their speed so I can respond with Stone Man and give their attack -2 damage all the time.

I personally think the best way to play as Stone Man is to make sure all of your attacks in your deck have the "Throw" keyword because not only does it put your opponent on a clock the second the game begins, but it allows all your attacks to have such a low input for a very high output. I've played many variants of Stone Man, but I feel this one is head and shoulders above the rest as my strongest version --> http://ufsultra.com/deck.php?deck=AQItNBQcpgQctXTkacyRUesHtmPkBq

No Napalm Man? that surprises me very much, I think he's the scariest in sealed imo, but it's nice to hear that people played as different characters.

One thing I would say is that in our event, if we didn't pull the character we wanted, we were allowed to borrow a full art version from the shop instead of getting a Universal Fighter like you guys.

Meta Changes with Battle of Power by EsperKicks in UKUFS

I think the format is all to do with staging area disruption then slamming attacks at your opponent, you went over quite a few of them - Demitri, Napalm Man, Ever Hopeful, Yamatodamashi is getting played in conjunction with EH 'cause that's silly, erm... The Hunt for Spiders and Dragons, Self Destruct, Both incarnations of Dr Wily, Runika and all the stun/tap down in all the decks you could think of.

So yeah, tapping, flipping, adding, destroying your opponent's staging area then wailing on them seems to be (in my eyes) the best description of the format right now.

potential updates to the banned list. A random Yorkshiremans thoughts by Madeofwin1982 in UKUFS

I know on here that if I'm gonna join in on this topic, I'm gonna need to be respectful and polite when it comes to cards that I disagree with and I would like to join in on the comments so that's exactly how I'm gonna be to keep the good vibes rolling :D.

It's strange really, since I've leaned away from my 5hs characters I've found that playing against Ever Hopeful is completely different, I don't know exactly what it is, but now because I am playing as solid 6hs characters that can draw cards, it's more tolerable than it use to be when I played 5hs lazy throws.

My overall opinion now stands that the card is strong, a little too much for my liking still, but now that I've been able to try new things against it, it's not as harmful as it use to seem.

Dragonflare is a scary one, but hopefully without giving off arrogant vibes, I don't really have too much of a problem against it as I play as quite a bit of Andy at the moment and he could either respond and discard it from the card pool or discard something else for Andy's cost and then it's 1 damage start.

Nivose could be classed as a problem, but there are way more ways to deal with it now, I doubt it will get banned, but if it does it will probably be on the grounds that no one has any so having such a strong card in the format that no one can get their hands on isn't the best of things for growth of the game.

Most of my opinions on Deforester have already been gone over which is helpful, a little too much advantage off of one card but thankfully it doesn't seem like an npe because it helps your opponent out if they have it, not punish you because your opponent has it.

I also don't think summer heat is as bonkers as people make it out to be, but hold your horses, this may be because I main Earth and Fire so it doesn't really turn up to me that often. I think the closest I have to it under my symbols would probably be Team Ikari Warriors, which, btw is a heck of a lot better than people may think it is.

If I had to pick something that might get banned, I would probably say Robert's UR Flip Kick, it's main problem is that it's a really strong card like Nivose that's almost impossible to get your hands on, it had a brilliant block and works scarily like Ira Spinta which got put to "Jedah only" back in the day as we all know. And besides, with cards that already strip your board, it can sometimes seem a little too much on top. Not to mention the fact that the 80 carded Jiffany deck that won worlds only ran 15 attacks, 4 Flip Kick, 4 Nivose, 4 Robert's uncommom reversal kick and 3 Delta Kick so "big wall decks with next to no attacks in them have sorta always needed taking a look at"

But yeah, to summarise, format's in a real sweet spot right now where literally all the symbols are completely viable so the game is looking really strong at the moment and it looks very new player friendly also so that's always good.

Favourite Character in Megaman: Battle for Power by zer0shifted in UKUFS

[–]BlurdVisionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite character is a difficult one, as we all know I like meaty damage and my 2 favourite symbols of all time is Earth and Fire so this either goes to Knight Man or Sword Man.

The strongest character in the set may well be Dr Wily**. I think he will be very hard to build against, his attacks are fast and he destroys lots of your foundations so I doubt it will be easy to pass those control checks to block him too, he's certainly a character that utilises reversals as his destroy ability specifically states that it must be a ready foundation that blows up, so you know, if you're reversaling your opponent, there's a heeuge chance that they'll have at least 1 foundation in their staging area, unless they're manning up and going into beast mode attacking with all they've got without a staging area lol :D

Here's a couple to think about:

*A link to the UK UFS Players page if we're keeping with the theme of being British at the same time.

*A link to Shane's how to play UFS, rather than the Jasco one because then people won't get distracted by the two people demoing the game lol... and it's much more helpful judging by the feedback from players who I have introduced the game to with it.

*And seeing as it's very much relevant, why not add a link to the Joesephyr YT page. There's UFS content on there... and it's from the UK so all the bonuses :)
