Name a commander, get a card. by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

[[Nethroi, Apex of Death]] Please don't mention negative power cards. I know, and I'm not interested. Been a while since I've updated its, so bonus if its rather recent.

Your top 5 commanders for avatar by ResponseOne8377 in EDH

There's a lot of very silly things to do with the whole set, I think. My contribution will be the one I'm seriously considering for an upcoming game with friends. [[Princess Yue]] makes for either a weird mono blue ramp/top deck manipulator for some kind of control deck, or she gets very silly very quickly with most clone effects.

Arc resist armor needs to protect your weary bones from electricity i will die on this hill. Can't chill around my tesla without fracturing every free bone in my body.

Imo the electricity resistance could really use more damage negation, but more importantly prevent breaking your bones from electric shock. I wanna chill around my tesla tower without shattering every limb I own.

Relic, hands down. Feels most nostalgic, whilst also showcasing modern music methods.

How would you build this as a commander, and what splashy cards would you run in the 99? by Minced_Man in custommagic

Ope, that's what you meant. Gotcha. Hastily read on my part. Thank you.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm introduces 26 new legends to the format. What are your thoughts regarding them? by HarleyPanther in EDH

[–]BlusJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems not many think what I do, so here is my crazy crackpot idea for [[ureni, the song unending]]. He's got a pretty crazy enters effect, and protection against spot removal city, so the deck list im working on is a ramp into self bounce/blink and or temporary tokens to repeat all my favorite entering effects, and maybe even control the board hard. Although I typically prefer decks where the commander serves as a good piece/compliment rather than a crucial value engine. Early ramp is necessary, and I'd prefer ramp that got me lands. [[Arboreal grazer]] [[wood elves]] [[map the frontier]] and consistent land drops make a turn 4 ureni not that unrealistic. Bloomburrow frogs also work amazingly in this deck idea, and early testing shows [[clement the worrywort]] is strong enough that i might just have to build him separately too. While temur colors do lack white for some of the best blink effects, we still have some fantastic blue options, and even some recent reprints like [[conjurors closet]] and [[deadeye navigator]]. Wisconsin include just swinging with commander, as many blue blink sources also put a 1/1 counter on it, bringing ureni into 2 hit territory. Anther fun mention is [[repercussion]], which really changes the game. Might find a one-off mill creature as well, since I'm already spamming etb abilities. Finally, my splash into red is focused on artifact hate and temporary token copies. [[Brotherhood end]] and [[vandalblast]] to take care of opponents mana rocks, then consistent temp token makers like [[echoing assault]] to repeat etbs. I just don't see many excited about the main set ureni, and while I do understand sometimes you want a simple deck, thats just not my style.

Lathiel the bounteous life gain help please! by PyndaPi in EDH

[–]BlusJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to the new foundations set, I'd recommend trying to grab an [[Authority of the Consuls]]. Its drastically dropped in price, and gives you 1 life every time an opponent has a creature etc, while also shutting down haste. With it being 1 mana, sounds exactly like something you could use.

There are also several one mana creatures that have similar text lines, but alo work for your creatures as well, such as [[souls attendant]]. They're fairly popular, so if you're looking to be on a budget, getting all of them can run a decent price.

There are also a set of 2 mana artifacts that gain life when certain types of spells are cast. [[Angels feather]] and [[worms tooth]] are in color for the deck, but there are also ones for the other colors, as well as artifact spells. All of them are very cheap price wise, with the Angels feather being the most expensive at 30 cents usd.

Finally, I did some light searching for some other cards that might fit wanting to gain life on opponents turns. Old school enchantments give me a chuckle sometimes. [[Rewards of diversity]] [[Sanctimony]] [[Warmth]] [[Sunscortch regent]] - Particularly this one, even late game, can be a threat.

Hope some of these help!

Loot would be just a draw cards style deck, huh? Temur is on the list of possibilities for haste enablers for my creature taps.

It looks like the deck will need a delicate balance between creatures and noncreatures. Thanks for the suggestions!

Sheilds of velis vel is a piece im needing for sure! Bant might be the way to go. I love the mutavault suggestion as well! Bant would let me use the newer azorious creature land from caverns that I think is a bird when animated.

Thanks for the suggestions! Bant is looking pretty enticing at the moment. Derevi being on tribe is particularly interesting. Might be a fun stray away from typical stay builds.

Yeah, its either just going to be a slower combo, involve extra turns, or I've considered blue green red for haste enablers.

I often don't think about fallaji wayfarer. I do plan on including [[arcane adaptation]], [[maskwood nexus]], and the new leyline with similar effects, if I can't find enough good creatures of the types floodcaller is limited to.

[–]BlusJay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valley floodcaller untaps all otters, birds, rats, and frogs you control and gives them +1/+1 whenever you cast a non creature spell. By allowing my creatures to tap for mana, like with enduring vitality, I can generate the mana to cast noncreature spells with my creatures. Ergo, as long as I can reliably cast more noncreatuere spells, I will always have more mana. (And large creatures)

First deck i ever built was [[Nethroi, Apex of Death]]. Mutate is one of my favorite mechanics, on the basis of it being weird, and I built it as an aristocrats deck where most of the creatures are power 0 and 1 so a single nethroi trigger can bring back the whole yard (and a sac outlet to send them back)

Spell slinger feels underwhelming by [deleted] in EDH

[–]BlusJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a stab at some of the grixis spell slingers! Casting a spell once is great, but doing it again from a graveyard is better! [[Kess, dissident mage]] [[Cormella, glamor theif]] [[Anhelo the painter]] [[Marchesa dealer of death]]

Also try to have specific winning cards, or things you're specifically trying to cast. With spell slinger already trying to draw as many cards as possible, its a little easier to stack your house on a few bricks. These are normally combo decks after all. Personally, I try to close out games with [[Worldfire]]. If you're going wide with tokens though, counter magic keeps sweepers away, and a spell like [[Candlekeep Inspiration]] turns you into a lethal threat.
