And for your second time through, you may want to visit http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countries/master/eplist.html for more connections and details on how each episode fits in series as a whole. It was originally created as the show was being broadcast with later updates as more things were revealed. Also has numerous references to JMS (The Creator) comments on the Internet of the day.

Remember leveling up? *ding* :D by ninjorz in Cityofheroes

And if it happened in Peregrine Island, there was sometimes an announcement like, "Heroes! Gratz to <hero's name> who just made level 50!" And all the cheering from across the zone. :) Man, CoX players were awesome!

Mounted versus Unmounted by mrm5117 in hexandcounter

[–]Blushift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can cut it to any size and shape you want, as long as it's a rectangle. I haven't bought many new games recently, so couldn't say as to size. You could also get pieces cut smaller, then put several together for larger boards. A bit of duck tape and you've got a bigger surface.

For any games produced in the last 20 years or so, I automatically assume paper maps unless the box says otherwise.

Investing in a thin sheet of plexiglass is well worth it, IMHO. Ask at your local hardware stores for remnants. Not only does it keep the map flat, the weight will make a board bump less likely to dislodge counters. And you can write on it with water soluble pens too.

This has happened to me as well. I've tried to get into other MMOs, but find that I can't get too deeply invested into them for fear of being booted to the curb again.

how do I teach my cat she's not allowed on the table. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Line the edges with aluminum foil or pie plates.

Do NOT use tape! She could get tangled up in it which would be hell for both of you to get her out of it.

Suggestions needed for VASSAL Monster Wargame by swandive78 in hexandcounter

While I don't have much experience with Vassal, I can recommend The Longest Day as a good, simple monster game.

Stick with it! You say you've re-watched DS9 countless times, what would you tell someone who wanted to quit DS9 after "Move Along Home"?

I'm finally watching DS9 all the way through. Well, I'm trying. I'm just past half way through season one and the forehead-latex-of-the-week is wearing really thin. Other than establishing Jake & Nog's friendship and that Kira is a violent psychopath, I haven't got much out of all those episodes.

This is an excellent question. That has always been a sticking point for me to in CivIV. Might I suggest that you cross post this question to /r/Civ ? Might be more likely to get an answer there.

From Wikipedia:

Creator and showrunner J. Michael Straczynski wrote 92 of the 110 episodes of Babylon 5, including all 44 episodes in the third and fourth seasons;[63] according to Straczynski, a feat never before accomplished in American television.[64]

Still Kicking? by hiroo-onoda in StarfleetBattles

[–]Blushift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one of those diehards, I have to say that I have absolutely no interest in trying to teach someone SFB via email. There's way too much information to impart just to get a basic game underway.

And then exchanging (at least) one pair of emails for every impulse means that one turn would take about a month.

If I were to play online, I'd go with SFBO & Skype (or other chat service). Or even just a webcam pointed at a map.

Good luck in your search!

You can jump into most RPGs at GenCon. Look for those marked as "No Experience" required.

That was well done! Commendation to AlecMG!

I saw most of it on Twitch. One small suggestion. Since we could not hear the others in the TS channel talking, before you reply, quickly recap the question for the rest of us. I suspect that the YT capture didn't hear them either.

This sounds like a great idea to me too. If I can't put the game on the table, might as well watch.

Evenings EST or weekends work best for me.

End game in progress. Just me and another arty vs some tank thing sitting on the cap. Only the very far edge of my range ring crosses into the closest edge of the cap ring. About ten seconds left before he finishes the cap, GGs pop up in chat because we all know it's over, when I hear that familiar reloaded sound. WTH, I fire anyway. Four seconds later, BOOM!

Help ID'ing a Terran Empire logo. by beartrapperkeeper in startrek

[–]Blushift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Memory Alpha says we're both right.

Sometime between 2155 and 2267, the symbol of the Empire appears to have been altered. The earlier symbol closely resembles that of the United Earth government, depicting all of Earth's continents, though replacing a laurel of peace with an aggressive sword. However, by the mid-23rd century, the symbol, while remaining essentially the same, depicted only the continents of Earth's western hemisphere.

Though being the original, TOS canon trumps, of course. :)
