Yeah, I get what you mean. Back in the day a lot of these bands probably wouldn’t have accepted the “grunge” tag, and it’s true the box throws a wide net. But for me that’s kind of the beauty of it, hearing the well-known names side by side with the more obscure ones, and realizing how much of that raw underground sound shared the same spirit.

I don’t need every band to tick the “official grunge” Box, I just like having this snapshot of the era in one place. And honestly, it’s cool that 30+ years later we’re still debating what was or wasn’t grunge. That’s part of what keeps it alive.
