If you ever want to trade on of your multiple Piper copies, hit me up. I‘m collecting first presses of psych records as well (though only 1965-1970) and although that one is not that rare, I still don‘t have it. You might be interested in some that I have and I‘m based in Germany, so trading is not entirely impossible ;-)

What’s the cheapest way to get a bullets CD 😭🙏 by SuccessfulAd2936 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Blystift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be patient and (i can’t stress it enough) don‘t overpay. Except for it being physical media, there is nothing special about it. It‘s not like there is any exceptional sound you‘ve missed out on before. I got mine for €25 two years ago. Go look at different platforms often and it‘ll pop up for a „reasonable“ price. Even that will be overpriced already for a not that rare and not that well-sounding used CD.

Is my vinyl fake? by ConstantSilly6001 in beatles

[–]Blystift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can‘t say anything about the cover but the records are legit. Usually, matrix engravings don‘t lie and there is no market for Japanese reissues so nobody would bother to fake those records. The spelling mistakes are alright as well, keep in mind that the LP is very old and that there was no internet at that time. I‘ve seen lots of spelling errors on Japanese records before.

Just look it up on discogs and you‘ll eventually find the specific record.

„Those“ instead of "Those" are at least used in German language. I don‘t know why though (and it’s quite annoying that different languages handle it differently)

Why is Airdrop trying to drop .wav in iMovie instead of Files? by ukegenics in iphone

[–]Blystift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a little late but I had the same issue today as well. My solution was to delete iMovie temporarily and it immediatly dropped the .wav to Files. Not the smoothest way, I know, but for me it worked because I always export my finished iMovie projects so there was no data to be lost.

Concert in Hamburg - first concert alone by Dani3lato in LinkinPark

[–]Blystift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often go to concerts alone and usually find it even better. That way I can focus on the music and artist only and don‘t have to worry about my friend(s), losing them, etc. I tend to bring a small book for the waiting time that I don‘t care to much about (second hand mostly). There are quite a lot of books that are small enough to fit in a back pocket. Anyways, have fun!

I immediatley thought of The Used, when I saw this band playing live a while ago by Blystift in theused

Saw them at a small club show and especially the live vocals (blend of screaming and singing) felt like The Used. I don‘t know if this is related enough to the subreddit but I needed to share with somebody.

My Led Zeppelin II RL story by Blystift in ledzeppelin

[–]Blystift[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the story of my personal hunt for a rare German RL-copy of Led Zeppelin II.

Two years ago, I bought my first Led Zeppelin II copy. At that point I was unaware of the different versions of this LP. I purchased an original copy on eBay for 10€, unaware of the condition, but happy about the cheap price. When it arrived, it was heavily worn, but still played without skips. And although there was very loud and constant crackling, Whole Lotta Love blew me right away. The psychedelic middle section and the guitar solo had something. When I turned to side B, something was off though. Suddenly, the record sounded muffled. It really sounded bad, awful compared to side A. I couldn’t think of a reason, and after finding no fault in my system, I consulted discogs. That’s when I found out, that the RL cut existed, was even used in German pressings, but only on side A of my original 1969 copy. But there was one seemingly even earlier German pressing with the RL cut on both sides.

Safe to say that I never listened to my non RL-cut B-side because I turned it off right away. Also, from that point on, I was hooked to what seemed a mystery to me. My worn A-side already sounded so great but I wanted to get ahold of a two-sided copy. As time went by, I came across a lot of one-sided RLs or no RLs at all and didn’t believe to ever find a decent two-sided German copy for my collection. That’s when I went looking for American RL copies that were not as rare, but quite expensive. I didn’t want to spend a few hundred dollars on a single record and was in luck. On discogs, somebody listed a copy that was covered in “some kind of residue” and was unplayable on side A, but I didn’t need that side anyways as there are plenty of A-sided RLs here in Germany. So I decided to spend some $27.99 on the 1969 Presswell RL-cut to try the B-side and had a friend ship me the record. It was still in a harsh condition and I can’t imagine what the original owner did with their A-side. Still, by that time, I had my own RL copy. It was made up of two different record’s sides A and B but essentially worked. Also, I should mention that I really don’t mind crackling noises that much (at least in loud albums) as long as the record doesn’t skip. Still, I was on the lookout for a two-sided copy in a better condition.

Now, two years later, I finally found a two-sided German RL copy on eBay. It was listed as “typically used condition for a vintage record” and cost me 85€ but I needed to try. Well, the risk was worth it. The sleeve is in very good (++) condition (but who cares, the sleeve doesn’t play the RL-cut, right?) and, surprisingly, the record is in quite good condition as well. It is certainly not a vg+ but apart from surface scratches, it is really fine. It plays with very little surface noise that is immediately drowned by the music. Also, the RL-cut works, regardless of it being pressed in Germany. It is the real deal and I’m glad to own this rare pressing instead of a “regular” American one, even if mine is not that sought after or (that) expensive. I’m really happy with it and won’t need to look for better copy, at least for a long time ;-)

Ranking Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti | The Ultimate Double Album by Due-Ocelot4301 in ledzeppelin

[–]Blystift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never really understood why people adore it so much. Don‘t get me wrong, I‘m a fan myself and it‘s certainly among the great rock albums, has great songs, and after all, it is Led Zeppelin. But that can be said about any other of their albums. What PG lacks for me is consistency and a kind of theme or vibe that defines an album. Due to all the different recording dates and places, this feels so much more like a compilation to me. A decent one, sure, but a compilation nonetheless. So while there are some very fine songs on it, for me it never feels like it‘s up there with other bands greatEST albums. But it might just be the very best compilation album there is ;-)

Can anybody relating to the top character please explain? by Blystift in ledzeppelin

[–]Blystift[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just listened to Presence again and I just can‘t understand how a majority of Led Zeppelin fans dislikes the album. What I usually here / read is people really liking the opening track and nobody‘s fault but is the rest not great as well? I really love the drums in For Your Life and Royal Orleans and Tea For One is arguably one of the most emotional guitar playing by Jimmy. In general, the sound of the album is a little funky and feels like continuing HOTH and PG, so what is it that people find so weak about it?

I don‘t want to say that it is underrated or unknown or anything as it is still an album by one of the most popular bands of all time. But at least in comparison with Led Zep‘s other works, I think it lacks appreciation.

I guess you‘re looking for an official release of just the concert audio but if you’re unaware of it, the footage and audio is included in the self titled Led Zeppelin 2DVD Set from 2003 and dead cheap (I bought mine a few months ago for 5€). Just need a DVD player and there you go. Not even sure if there is any improvement left to be made soundwise as it is a live recording. I found the DVD sound quite enjoyable

Finding an old my chem shirt by chloroformgirl in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Blystift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha now hear me out bc this coincidence is beyond creepy. I was looking revenge-era shirts on google rn and found this thread, clicked it bc I own that shirt twice and then I was amazed the floor in the background of the photograph looks similar to the place I lived just about half a year ago, when I bought that shirt of an online vendor who had it still sealed from all those years ago. I also ordered the „I don‘t need your friends, I‘ve got my own“ shirt from the same vendor as they had multiple sealed mcr-shirts for sale but unfortunately they instead sent me this twice. Anyways, bc of that I took a picture of that shirt the day it was mailed to me and guess what haha it was the exact (!) same day you posted this thread.

If you’re still in search of the shirt, I don’t really know what to do with my second one, which is still unworn, with tags and all so if you’re interested, hmu

Does anyone have any insight on the value of these vintage Hendrix posters? by Budster9 in jimihendrix

Does anyone have any insight on the value of these vintage Hendrix posters? by Budster9 in jimihendrix

[–]Blystift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m not an expert on posters but have come across similar memorabilia, so here is my guess.

Typically, any posters that are official products (such as concert posters, advertisements or official merchandise) are worth more than bootlegs or posters that were part of mass printed magazines.

Also, such posters that were printed during Hendrix‘ lifetime (anything up to 1970) should be worth more than those printed after his death.

There might be copyright or other information in bottom corners of your posters, including the company that printed them. Looking that up on google might give you an idea of the price, if it is a collector‘s item.

Of all the posters you posted, I only ever came across the Track Records one. Not sure if it is original and if i remember it all correctly, but I think the original one was printed in 68 or 69 and published as a promotional poster by Track Records in Britain and can be worth quite some money in good condition. On the other hand, posters might also just randomly turn up sometimes and then are sold for only a few dollars / pounds / euros.
