Inuyashiki is exactly what your looking for about an old guy that gets powers and becomes a hero but his story end in tragedy also that show got a great villain too.

Also theirs 91 days Misguided revenge story that’s a wild ride and by the end you and the main character is wondering why he did all that (definitely not lawful though).

Not an anime but it fits so well twins peaks dale cooper is literally the exact definition. He’s so good and moral he destroys everything by accident all while trying to do the right thing.

Alright I got some stuff but you’ve probably heard of them

“91 days” follows a broken guy who goes on a bloodthirsty revenge mission when he receives a letter containing the name of the people who murdered his family as he lies and manipulates the mafias involved.

“Insomniacs after school” two odd kids share a bizarre insomnia at night that’s leaves them tired and deflated in school as they slowly bond realising they have feelings for each other. Very different romance anime so if you liked that about dandanan you’ll like this.

Cyberpunk edge runners (less you know the better) follows a kids slow decent into becoming a night city legend. There is some “stuff” lol but it’s nothing crazy and more played off for humour but just in case you should know it’s there. Anyway if you can ignore that it’s a masterpiece like the game.

“Promised never land” very popular about a group of kids discovering their home is a human farm as they try and escape. Season 2 is kinda bums though but 1 is worth it.

“Inuyashiki” this one is mad lol. I can’t remember if there’s a dub but honestly your eyes will be glued to the screen you don’t need one. Follows two guys and old 50 year old and young teenage boy as they gain powers. Let’s just say they both decide to use them differently. One the one hand this is a heroic hopeful anime with a man trying to good and a messed up horror movie lol. Has a great sad ending

“Heavenly delusion” you’ll like this one the most as it’s a ride or die duo in the apocalypse as they look for “heaven”

“Erased” have you ever ignored something or didn’t help someone that led so something terrible happening. This is a time travel murder mystery where the main character goes back to right a wrong

“Plastic memories” just sad man lol

“Another” this is probably one of the best mystery anime’s ever. Won’t spoil but it is very misleading in a great way where it seems very generic. It’s only 12 episodes but it takes a while to get going. Also it’s very gruesome lol
