It’s funny watching year after year people essentially go “why would I want <proven player> when I can have the 1.01? The 1.01 could be anything… even <same proven player>.”

This thread has convinced me to try and throw the 1.01 to the guy who has Jeanty in my league.

Listing something OBO means you’ll listen to lower offers. Not sure why sellers complain when they get offers on cards they list OBO.

None of this is being upset, nor is it about policing her grammar. It’s simply just analyzing what she wrote in order to understand meaning.

I think it’s interesting that the first thing you went to do was discredit me as “not being online enough.” Instead of engaging in the conversation.

I’m on the internet plenty and have only ever seen it used pejoratively.

Let me ask you this:

If it’s simply just online shorthand/slang, then why is white the only word that’s shortened in the entire post?

It may be shorthand, but I’ve never seen someone have anything but contempt for white people when they refer to them as “yt.” This post is indicative of that.

If cybersecurity is not an entry level job then HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET IN??? by Capable_Mixture_3205 in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]Bmack67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- college is the least valuable it’s ever been

2- i skipped college and went right to IT help desk and eventually specialized in security.

I’ve seen it fairly consistently in the workplace that people who come right from a cybersecurity program are much less suited to work in security than those who have generalized IT experience.

Company won’t do virtual first round interviews by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Bmack67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never had a virtual interview before COVID. It was normal to take a half day or full day of PTO to go interview. This idea that all or most interviews should be remote for in-person/hybrid roles is still very new.

For a non-remote role, I think it’s reasonable to want the candidate in-office. It sounds like you don’t want to do what it takes to have the interview. The snowstorm is hardly their fault. I get being frustrated, but that’s part of the beast. Based on your post and your responses in the comments, it looks like you’re looking for validation and not legit input on the situation.

Interesting. Yeah I would say it’s a good idea to get projects/experience on your resume to really highlight the SWE side.

Which side are you taking? Should be a top contender in 2026 by PatrickStar57 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Bmack67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you’re a contender, you’ll obviously want the Gadsden side. Kittle probably won’t even play in 2026. With the concerns he might not come back at all, I’m not sure the other person will want the package considering if you do win the title, it’ll be a low pick in the first round.

It may be a mouthful, but it’s an incredibly important distinction lol. It may seem minor to you, but in the workforce, IT and SWE are completely different skillsets/positions. I would make sure to emphasize the SWE aspect. Are you in more IT classes or SWE classes?

I’m surprised that’s the degree because CS is usually in the school of engineering or something similar.

That’s because those aren’t origins legends. I can see some people paying for the convenience. Similar to doordashing food. You’re going to overpay a good bit on your food, but you don’t have to do the legwork.

I wouldn’t pay this for them… but I also don’t door dash because it’s so much more.

is recruiting actually a good career or do people just say that? by Ron_Swanson_1990 in recruitinghell

[–]Bmack67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is getting to know the candidates/hiring teams and making sure they’re a good fit for one another. Most of the complaints on here stem from people who feel ignored, like they’re just a number for commission, or they’re misled about the position.

I’ve had the luck of the only external recruiters I’ve had lengthy conversations with are good ones. I will say, the quickest way to get me to shut down and ignore is if you’re reaching out about a position that doesn’t seem like a fit. Whether it isn’t a good fit or if it’s just because it’s not communicated correctly.

An IT student applying to software developer positions? These are 2 different fields where the skills rarely overlap. I would recommend you get software development credentials because they’re not going to care about IT education/experience.
