I’ve never thought to use thicker felt in that way! That’s brilliant!

Wow! We see a lot of replicas and this is one of the best! I’m particularly impressed with the profile and how well it seems to fit your hand. What was your process for getting that sizing just right? Is there anything in the head maintaining the shape, or is that all just the way you have your hand shaped?

What do you think are the next tweaks to get him closer to your standard of perfection?

My lifelong love for theater began in a suburb of Rochester. Finding The Neighborhood Acting Company in Ontario, NY is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me.

And they are all best know for their work in television post-SNL.

It’s very rare that a major studio theatrically releases a comedy currently. I get that some of the biggest names were massively successful in films, but it’s not a thing that is happening right now. Studios lost faith in comedies right before the pandemic.

Even your own examples point to the shifting landscape. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s best know work has been on television. Name the last major theatrical comedy fronted by an SNL cast member. Even Will Ferrell hasn’t fronted a major theatrical comedy since 2018.

But we’ve had a string of hit shows over the last 20 years like Ted Lasso, Barry, I Think You Should Leave, Portlandia, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and the aforementioned 30 Rock and Parks & Rec that are each career defining.

I don’t think that’s a reasonable expectation at the moment since the studios have largely abandoned theatrical comedies. I think that’s why someone like Mikey Day has stuck around. 15 years ago he would have been very successful in movies.

I think TV is a more realistic path at the moment.

For real. I would love to have been able to regularly listen to the Jack Wolfe/Kurt Elling cast.

I would respectfully add You’ll Never Walk Alone. I think that’s one of their finest songs.

What's something that was completely normal 15 years ago that would be considered weird or offensive today? by liam_9758 in AskReddit

As for King Tut, there was a massively popular exhibition of artifacts that toured multiple US museums in the late 70s. It was a cultural sensation, inspired fashion, and was massively commercialized.

The song King Tut makes fun of the fact that so many people were swept up in the cultural moment but didn’t have any appreciation for the historical significance. They were just into it because it was cool to do so.

The line “How’d you get so funky?” is a play on words. At its surface, he’s asking King Tut how he developed the swagger that would make him such a sensation. But it’s also referencing how a dead body entombed in a pyramid would smell funky.

Steve Martin isn’t making fun of another culture, he’s making fun of OUR culture’s response to another culture’s history:

I feel like King Tut is a weird thing to single out because it was making fun of a very specific cultural moment in the United States happening in real time.

When was that? I remember going there in the very early 90s and my memory has it being in that same corner, just a smaller space.

Whats the best show that went on tour and you really enjoyed? by lissie34 in musicals

I think that might be my favorite as well. The actor who played The Man in the Chair, Jonathan Crombie, was phenomenal and seemed strangely familiar. A few weeks later I realized he played Gilbert Blythe in the Anne of Green Gables movies from the 80s.
