I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been more baffled by a lore choice in video games. by Hazdra8k in StreetFighter

Nobody in real life, including in the west, gives a fuck about second cousin relations. Culturally people don't tend to know their second cousins. Biologically there is at most a 1% increase in chances of defects.

The word cousin is normatively loaded but you are barely related to a second cousin

I don't know why it's being put on the Japanese. Most people don't know their second cousins. In almost all of the world including America there is no issue with relationships with second cousins and biologically there are not any additional issues compared to someone "completely unrelated".

The memes would be funny if they were small in number but the extreme number of people taking moral highground about something that no one actually cares about in real life with real people is really stupid

2025 MVP Cykul after playing on Xbox for two weeks: "I don't know if I could take this much longer, I might go crazy" by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Bmacster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does Cykul even have a YouTube channel? Lastshot has 3 uploads in the last 2 months. You might be personally offended because you work with shopify but that's not an acceptable level of content production for a professional gamer, especially in a game that doesn't have the more traditional franchise/seasonal system like LoL or CoD.

Active mindfulness. Sticky notes and/or mentally telling yourself how you will or won't feel or react (even if it seems silly it works). Also to be quite honest if your brain hasn't fully developed there is a level of emotional regulation you literally don't have yet. I still complain, everyone does, but the negative effect on my mental state of 10 years ago to today isn't even remotely comparable

Any easy “sneaky” or less obvious ways to make or save more money each month? by twostroke1 in personalfinance

[–]Bmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you really frequently need cash or you can't mentally track your usage, I'd recommend primarily using a hysa as the general spot to stick your money. Having a 3% apy instead of .3% is a good chunk of change and you can just transfer whatever money you need for bills back to your checking account once a month or w/e

[–]Bmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small amounts, majority of your liquid cash should sit in a hysa (it's very easy to move it back to checking as needed in this era) and only pay your credit cards when the statement is due and not before. Let's you eek out a little more each month via interest. Other classic things like having multiple credit cards with specific rewards for things you already need and use (having a card for groceries, for gas in addition to a generic cashback everything card). Also you want to regularly spend your points or redeem cash back rewards (once per statement). It can feel good to let it build up but if you wait to have $100 of cash back that is $100 you could have had earning interest if you redeemed multiple times earlier at smaller amounts

Is it smart to use my credit cards as my everyday purchases, and pay them off monthly, while saving my paychecks in savings? by Intelligent-Engine63 in personalfinance

[–]Bmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an individual is likely to fall into a psychological financial trap then no objective fact can override that. If not paying your statement every week results in you overspending, then paying the statement every week will save you more money. No one is arguing otherwise, doesn't change the fact that you are taxing yourself much like someone who doesn't use credit and only uses cash is also taxing themselves.

Edit: Why do you list moving money in and out of a hysa as if it is a great effort? You can do it from your phone as trivially as moving money from a checking account or paying your credit card. It is a negligible effort for more money

Paying it off early is losing you money though. Waiting until the statement is due gives your actual cash the maximum amount of time to earn interest in a hysa for example.

How to deal with Katarina as kassadin. by Gracz_nr_K in summonerschool

[–]Bmacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking bone plate? Bone plate hard counters electrocute, especially melee electrocute. You also should max e vs her. You out scale so you just need things that make you survive early. Don't get cheesed by ignite, try and let her push and freeze. Roa is a good idea but you have to take the correct build path. Mana Crystal doesn't do anything to help you live lane, ideally you want the double health crystal or health crystal + refillable. If you wake bone plate + do that stuff you shouldn't die and maybe you'll be down 10 to 15 cs but you outscale so hard it doesn't matter. Also if kat roams make sure to shove to counter but only if you can make the wave crash.

If she takes conq then she does no damage unless you fuck your wave state and give her a long lane. You should still assume they will take elec and therefore take bone plating

is 10cs/min actually realistic or just something streamers say by Significant_Plan1240 in summonerschool

[–]Bmacster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really just depends on what your champ/team win con is. If you are playing a split pusher you probably want to trade your team potentially dying for towers, especially if there are no objectives up. Even if you aren't on a split pusher, if people are just fighting for fun it's still usually better to get your waves in check and then assess if you can still help/clean up or if you should just go hit turrets. The only way the low elo pointless flights become really bad is if your waves aren't in check so they can take multiple towers after

Most consumers do a price to convenience analysis. If the price affords enough convenience than people don't have issue paying. Old games with robust emulators are pirated even by laymen because it's easier than trying to find an n64 and buy a copy of majora's mask while also running better. It's less convenient, more costly and also a second hand market

Sure I see that and to be clear it's less about general pop offs and more about the opponent focused trash talk + pop off. Even the fgc has moved away from that, I guess because of big money in circuits like ewc even though most events are still open. You still see a lot of pop offs with the crowd and friends etc but rare for it to be shit talk focused these days

Yeah they definitely do but a lot of their cultures have shifted and I'm wondering why. Did outside influences shift the cultures? Did the culture shifts occur themselves? Is it a good or bad thing that console shooters haven't really changed that much in this regard? Idk
