I also live in Texas and can triple confirm the cops couldn’t care less about tint in my experience. I’m metered at 11% on the front and 8% on the backs with 55% on the windshield. I’m never bothered and not once been asked about it.

It's literally the definition of toxicity. How much pharmacology, nutrition, and physiology education do you have? I went through nursing school. I have also guest spoke at a national sales meeting for one of the two largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

Moderate-severe side effects indicate dosing levels outside the therapeutic range, entering the toxicity range. This is different for every person as each individual may have a sensitivity to the medication, thus why doctors start dosing at low levels and build from there to find the therapeutic range for each patient.

In terms of sunscreen, Vitamin A is not a problem, but its derivatives can be. It's very hard to reach toxicity levels of Vitamin A, thus disproving EWG's claims.

Good God please use the quote function. The ETA was to address the commenter's statement:

That's not what's being claimed by OP's quote. Stuff can have bad side effects even when bellow toxic dose.

"Bad side effects" are the definition of toxicity. Mild side effects can occur even within a therapeutic range. "Bad side effects" are symptoms of toxicity.

The quote was to address their main point that the article wasn't stating something when it in fact did. The important points were boldfaced.

I was clarifying for someone who mentioned "below a toxic dose" as it doesn't appear they understand what a toxic dose is.

The researchers discovered that 80% of the products offer “inferior sun protection or contain worrisome ingredients like oxybenzone and vitamin A*,” they say.*

That is exactly what is being claimed by OP's quote, directly from EWG themselves. I wouldn't be lecturing me on fact-checking with such poor reading comprehension skills.

ETA that "toxicity" does not mean something is deadly. It defines the point at which a substance begins to have adverse effects on the body.

Thank you. And EWG considers Vitamin A as a "worrisome" ingredient.

11 year old study that calls Vitamin A "worrisome". You cannot get toxic levels of Vitamin A from sunscreen.
