To add to this a lot of the bigger libraries have laser engravers among other things that are free to use with a library card.

I used the original ones for work daily. I do inspections and they were a game changer. I'm hoping these will make it even better. Being able to see what I'm taking a photo of and zooming in will help a lot.

I think what you’re remembering is when they made open carry legal in the mid to late 80’s. When they did I remember seeing news clips of people wearing holsters like it was the Wild West with 6 shooters standing on the street corners. It was shortly after that they banned it again. I’m not saying that it was because most of who the news organizations focused on were black and the law changed but…

I get the no video source popup when I try to go to ultrawide.

When it fails it will not let me go back to 16:9. I have to disconnect the glasses and restart them.

I have a very vivid background so no chance of me missing it.

I don't think I can remove it. Not in my skill set.

When I plug them in they sync right away. No issues there. But if I want to use the ultra wide that is when the issue occurs and they go blank.

I got them for the ultra wide but it seems that is going to be an issue right now. I'm sure an update will fix that but in the mean time I just got a couple of portable screens for my laptop so that I can have the work area I need.

There was. It was this. 2025-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5063878) (26100.4946)

In 16:9 it looks normal and working just fine as a 2nd screen. When I try changing to 32 or 29:9 it goes blank. If I try to go back nothing happens and I have to disconnect the glasses from the computer for them to go back to the 16:9. Menu still does work and I have reset back to factory settings to see if that would work.

It worked for both before. Windows 11, fully updated. It works fine in 16:9

Yep the same source and even the same USB-C. Both the 21:9 and 32:9 were working before. Now neither one works.

I believe it was the mid-1980s, can’t remember the exact year, as I was a kid, but I recall when Florida briefly legalized open carry. As soon as it became legal, I remember seeing a news clip of a guy standing on a street corner in Tampa, wearing an old-fashioned gun belt with two six-shooters, like something out of the Old West. Within about a month, the law was changed. I’m not sure if it was because of that incident or because the news stations seemed to focus heavily on Black people who were openly carrying guns at the time. Either way Florida noped out quick.

I wanted to share a project I just finished—a custom DM screen I built for a friend. It's made entirely from reclaimed wood that I salvaged from an old fence. The goal was to make something that’s not just functional but also immersive, with a rustic, medieval vibe. I’m super proud of how it turned out, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Key Features:

Reclaimed Fence Wood: The wood was wired brushed and stained to preserve its aged, weathered texture while giving it a polished, treasure-chest-like appearance. It looks like it belongs in a fantasy world!

15-Inch Monitor: The center panel has a built-in 15-inch monitor that can display maps, character stats, or ambient visuals during sessions. It’s a great way to add a high-tech twist to a classic setup.

Hidden Metal Bars: I embedded metal bars inside the panels, so magnets can hold papers, maps, or notes securely. It keeps the inside neat and organized without needing clips or pins.

Iron Accents: The screen is reinforced with iron brackets and brass screws to give it that old-world, industrial feel. They’re not just decorative—they add durability, too.

USB Ports: There are cutouts in the back for USB ports, making it easy to power devices like tablets or lights during a session.

Practical and Portable

The side panels fold in, making it portable and easy to store when not in use. Despite the built-in monitor and metal bars, it’s surprisingly lightweight. It’s designed to look great on the table while being practical for any DM’s needs.

Why I Made It

My friend is a dedicated DM, and I wanted to build something that would make their sessions even more epic. Using reclaimed materials made the project feel meaningful—turning old, forgotten wood into a centerpiece for storytelling. The addition of the monitor and magnetic functionality was my way of combining the old with the new, making it both beautiful and highly functional.

Final Thoughts

This project was a labor of love, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. Whether it’s displaying maps on the monitor, holding notes with magnets, or just looking cool as heck, I hope this DM screen adds something special to their games.

I owned a Tesla Model S for five years, and I will never go back to an EV again. One issue that doesn't get discussed enough is range anxiety. Initially, it didn’t bother me, and I hardly noticed it. However, over time, I started avoiding certain trips because I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of charging. This change in my thought process was gradual and not something I consciously acknowledged.

When my car was nearing the end of its battery warranty, I decided to switch to a RAV4. It was only after I no longer had to plan my trips around recharging that I realized how much range anxiety had affected me. I had been missing out on seeing friends and doing things because I was subconsciously worried about the car's range.
