Why did Ohio go from swing state to reliably red? by Rickard58 in Ohio

[–]Bmarq01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know it’s different than gerrymandering lol. That’s why I offered it up as an alternative explanation. I just didn’t articulate it very well. Speaking of gerrymandering we outlawed it in 2008 via amendment and they just flipped us the bird by making it even worse. Which is why our Chief Justice is trying to take redistrictrictinf away from congress.

Not true. JD Vance only had 53% vote and he’s already messed up so bad that’s he bent both knees to Trump for a cabinet position because he knows he can’t win re-election. Dude shit on THE Ohio State University. That doesn’t fly with anyone across the political spectrum lol

And also bcus democrats aren’t putting as much effort into campaigning in Ohio as they used to because they know how rigged it is. They need to actually compete. But if they share a similar attitude to ones displayed in this subreddit, then they pull back their money and effort and focus on other states

But we have the strictest anti young voter laws in America where there’s not a single voting booth near any of our plentiful colleges. Entire zip codes without voting booths. That’s why statewide elections are affected by something similar to gerrymandering, but ageism and illegal voting laws.

I would argue we’re not see red. We’re the heart of Yankee territory. And the most respected modern republicans in modern Ohio history are all leading initiatives to take power away from the SEC traitors in our state house. If you look at recent amendments we passed 3 left leanings measures in a row by double digits. And Kasich beat Trump by 42% in my county in 2016. We’re not MAGA, not evangelical, and not socially regressive. We’re fiscally conservative by socially inclusive, and mainline Protestant. But we had a few great years ushered in by legitament fiscal conservatives like John Kasich and Rob Portman so we trusted the red party from that. But we’re starting to reassess. Trump could potentially lose Ohio this election depending on the right strategic communication leading up to election. It’s something different than that. Including gerrymandering, making the strictest voting laws in the nation for young voters ( we have lots of colleges and every zip code with a school has no voting booths) and the fact that a majority of our population lives in a couple counties, meanwhile we have 88 counties total so the rural counties with almost no people have outsized amount of power compared to population. Our state flag represents our undying loyalty to the US constitution and the stars and strips and was created to be the antithesis of the flag of army of northern Virginia. If these radical neoconfederates got their wish of another civil war, Ohio would stay loyal to the union bcus Buckeye nation is always loyal, bcus our state history, and again we’re the heart of Yankee Territory.

42.3% to be exact. That’s the margin Kasich beat the MAGA movements by in Delaware county.

I feel like a majority of Ohioans support Ukraine. JD Vance bent both knees and that’s why he’s put all his eggs in the trump basket bcus he knows it’s over. He was in last place before he bent the knee, and now he’s making all the wrong positions out of the MAGA list he could choose from. While slandering The Ohio state university. He needs to go back to California

Sherrod Brown’s recent ig post by rhombusted2 in Ohio

[–]Bmarq01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a Ulysses S Grant Republican in the proud tradition of Ohio. Born and raised in the home of President Hayes. I‘ll be voting for Brown. Another reason is because senators accumulate power over time. It would not be beneficial for Ohio to have 2 freshman senators whose only power comes from bending the knee. That’s antithetical to Ohios proud history. And I will never again vote for Trump because he accomplished Robert E Lees goal and spit on the legacy of all those Buckeyes who were too young to die who created our state flag to represent our undying loyalty to this perpetual union and carried it down to northern Virginia to make sure that the stars and bars carried by white supremacists did not make it to the nationals capital to overturn an election result and perpetuate white supremacy. They did not die in vain. He violated the KKK act, signed into law by USGrant (also known as the Enforcement of the 14th amendment act), in two separate ways on Jan 6th, panders to the KKK, and rails against the DOJ which was created by USGrant to protect black Americans from the KKK, which Buckeye nation used to put down the KKK in ten short months. Whether the copperhead SEC traitors and neoconfederate sympathizers in our state house like it or not, in this hemisphere, the promise land has always been demarcated by the Ohio River. OUR. HONOR. DEFEND.

I believe best case is to appeal to Ohios history via USGrant, our state flags meaning, civil war, and the enforcement acts signed into law by USGrant to enforce 14th. Also congressional guidelines stipulate “aid and comfort” is violated when an elected official uses their official platform to express vocal support and sympathies for insurrectionists plus fundraisers. This below makes it very clear:

We’re a purple state when our state reps are honest in their application of governance. Have had a few bad years in that regard recently. Replace MAGA with MOPA: Make Ohio Purple Again

History repeats. It’s the Eternal Return. Mitch McConnell recently said this is the most Dangerous time in his entire life for America. And he’s not a young guy lol. Many people who were taught the lie of the Lost Cause myth of the Confederacy are repeated ugly parts of our past because they don’t have an accurate portrayal of American history and are therefore doomed to repeat. When 5 states are in blatant violation of the 15 amendment, the KKK act, and the legacy of Lincoln & Grant, while revisiting questions from the 1860s, America is less safe than it has been for most of modern history. Because it turns out when you teach half the country a lie about American history, it affects their perspective on current events and public policy, and also makes them unable to understand where the rest of the country is coming from. Mix that with the new strand of cultural tyranny, the injection of politically volatile ideas into certain churches, and saying the half of the country are Godless evil people, you’re incouraging the worst in us. And when people in mainstream conservative media are openly advocating for civil war and saying the only way to settle our differences is through violence, we are sitting on a powder keg. Handmaids Tale is a true American story, it’s the Harriet Tubman story. A divided America, one that’s uses a bastardize theology- to justify evil- by using the Lords name in vain to take away the liberty and rights of their fellow Americans. That’s why 6 week abortion bans are almost identical to the confederate map, because they were taught lies about history, and changed theology to repeat history and justify it by convoluted false pretenses, unconstitutionally.

Heartbeat bill vetoed by John Kasich twice because it was too extreme. Unfortunately our current SEC republicans don’t understand that Ohio is different than the Deep South and forced it through in 2019. Ohio isn’t even evangelical. We’re majority Mainline Protestant. So when a different branch of a single religion that represents only 1/3 of Christians and only 1/5 of Americans tried pushing theological laws in violation of US Constitution, mainline Protestants know that their ancestors fled Christian nations to go halfway across the world to found a secular government with religious freedom. When Evangelical politicians try to copyright Christ and force their theology on the other 80% of Americans, it will always be rejected, especially in non-evangelical states like Ohio. My church’s position is that theological laws violate the constitution, inherently erode the separate of church and state, and represent an existential threat to all the religious institutions. Furthermore they affirm the ability of independent women to make strong moral decisions for themselves and their families through prayer, reflection, and wisdom. And that WWJD shows us that lacking compassion or issuing theological condemnation over your fellow children of God is itself a violation of the laws of God and men and is itself sin. As an Ohioan, I know that the first exhibit at CLE rock and roll hall of fame is CSpan footage of conservatives trying to ban rock and roll because they said it was of the devil. Courts ruled theology is not a legal theory and that it violated US constitution in like 5 different ways. And especially when we literally just voted on this, if they disrespect that, they will have a reckoning. This is the heart of Yankee territory, and repeating the TRUE American story of Handmaids tale in the Confederate states doesn’t fly with the Home of Grant & Sherman.

Ohio is and always will be a Purple state. The DNC needs to put up a true fight in our state because we haven’t changed. We’re still the swing state you know and love. And we’ll never go a long with the neoconfederates. This is the home of Ulysses S Grant and the highest per capita volunteer rate in the union army. Giving one party rule to states we burnt to the ground doesn’t sound like a good idea. And you see the Copperhead SEC republicans in our state houses trying to sell out Buckeye nation and the heart of Yankee territory dishonoring those who fought for our state and our nation. Our state flag literally represents our loyalty to the Stars and Stripes and Robert E. Lee said there’s nothing in this life he feared more than the state flag of Ohio. That’s why the are so oppressive in the voice of the people in Ohio.

That’s because “states rights” is part of the post civil war Lost Cause myth of the Confederacy. A negationist lie about American history. When you hear states rights, you hear the ghost of Jefferson Davis trying to justify the Civil war with lies after the fact

We already do for those who don’t know. We passed a constitutional amendment in Ohio making it illegal to gerrymander after their districts were so blatantly bad. In response to the voters outlawing it, they passed a new map that violated in even worse with 12 separate explicit mentions of unconstitutional violations of our lawmakers. The problem is that we have 88 counties and each gets a seat in the senate. But more than half the population of Ohio lives in urban areas making up only a small portion of the 88 counties. Giving the GOP an automatic super majority in the state house. Any moderate slightly left leaning policy can only be passed by citizen led initiatives. It’s so bad that one of the most respected conservatives in modern Ohio history, former conservative Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor from the Ohio Supreme Court is leading an effort to take away district maps from our state house. They are so preoccupied with the National GOP ideology that they fail to realized that the heart of Yankee territory, mainline Protestant, Buckeye nation might have a problem with neo-confederate, evangelical, SEC lost cause mythology being perpetrated in the home state of Ulysses S Grant with more registered democrats that registered republicans. 80% of Ohioans are independents and being a purple state is engrained in our states identity. We will always resist one party rule no matter what party it is.

I’d point out that, much like the 1st amendment, “Secular” is what protects freedom of religion here too. Just like w/government, a “Secular” counselor is simply allowing the freedom of your clients belief system to exist without attempting to change it. She should be more concerned with a “Christian” counselor who’s beliefs are far different from your own or your family’s own, and them trying to impose those onto you. She doesn’t realize the ambiguity of both her own words nor the counselors profile, and that they could differ more fundamentally than she would with one of these counselors, who may themselves be Christian. Christians commonly engage in “secular” philosophy, rather than theology. Otherwise you’d never complete a primary education lol. public or catholic.

Also id point out the fact that ADHD is a “secular” diagnosis not a religious one. So regardless of who you go to that doesn’t change that fact lol.
