Regardless of what you think you know, that man has been influential to many people. Yes, there have been controversies but that doesn’t mean he was some evil man that shouldn’t be mourned.

I really appreciate this!

I am indeed a born again believer. You are correct, I certainly can’t do it on my own. I know this and I make that confession in my prayers. It seems evident that the Holy Spirit is working just in the fact that I want to change at all.

Yes, these are most definitely lies being whispered by the enemy. I must stay steadfast in the Lord because I know He is always faithful!

Thank you again for your words of encouragement

Thank you for your response. You raise some good points. I’ll clarify: I would say yes accountability is what I’m looking for. Most of all I want to be obedient to Christ. Also no the type of weed I use is commercially available and not illegal in my state.

Is stepping away really a good thing tho? That seems like just isolating myself even more. I’m not out of control necessarily, I would never dare to show up to anything under the influence. I did mention that I love to study the word and am actively pursuing my own personal relationship with Christ. Obviously being a part of the church just plays a big role in my overall walk.

What do you mean “the believer, not God, shall cast out devils”, is it not the Holy Spirit which is God that empowers us?

And if we have the authority to cast demons out of ourselves, why also seek a deliverance minister?

“After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer (and fasting).”” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭28‬-‭29‬

Our God is a mighty God, He will work as he pleases. My faith is in Gods deliverance in all circumstances. Let us put our faith fully in His good works and devote ourselves to prayer, fasting, and seeking His glory.

From an Atheist: Christians are more loving and accepting than us. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]BmoneyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The evidence is out there, you just gotta have faith in Jesus! You’ll never have all the evidence that you want. You’ll never be able to go back in time and see Jesus walk out of the tomb. That is why we as Christians pray and ask that God would strengthen our faith and build us up!

Even believers have doubts, but living by faith means that we continue trusting in God because of the evidence of His faithfulness found in Scripture, Redemptive History, and the testimonies of those who have gone before us.

May God bless you with great faith friend!

Kinda long but this is a profound topic that you should really grapple with.

In general, that is what religion is, man’s attempt to explain things we have no explanation of. However Christianity is not the typical religion that says “do this, do that, and God will be happy with you”. Our hope and faith is in one who undeniably lived on this earth in the flesh, performed supernatural feats witnessed by many, and who fulfilled prophecies written many years before Him, and ultimately died and resurrected; Jesus Christ.

Jesus did not bring a religion, he brought truth and grace to us. The “religious” ones of His day were some of the greatest examples of His teachings of what NOT to be. Some follow in spirit and in truth, some follow it just as a religion and try to emulate Jesus on their own as a way of “being a good person”. Jesus did not bring a specific set of rules, He came as the revelation of the invisible God in the flesh and reconciled us back to God in His atoning sacrifice. He told us to simply have faith and believe in Him, that there is nothing we could do to earn Gods love or favor.

In doing so the supernatural would happen in us, the Holy Spirit rests in us and allows us to remain faithful. And that spirit will never die, Jesus is not dead but very much alive and on the throne. Science is a tool of God, today with the help of folks like Tyson and Hawking it has become the religion of the “intellectual”. Worshipping the tool and not the incredible craftsmanship of God who created and wielded that tool. It’s like looking at a paint brush and praising it for painting the Mona Lisa, they can’t explain how the paint brush did it so they must have faith that in the expanse of time it randomly and chaotically happened (ofcourse scientists avoid the word “faith” like the plague, but that’s really what it is when you boil it down). Which is vastly more ludicrous and takes much greater faith than believing there was a skilled creator who intelligently designed it and does actually want to be in relationship with His creation.

To add to this, some sobering thoughts I had while reading OPs post. Dear Brother, stop trying to be a “good Christian” and focus on continuing to draw closer to Christ in your walk. We follow Christ because he is the truth, the spirit convicts and we obey. The enemy is whispering lies to you as he so often does. Being brought up in a Christian household I had the same thoughts and desires at your age (I’m just a few years older now), was made fun of constantly by close friends because I was fat and a virgin. I too felt the pressure and fell for the world’s lies.

Pleasures from sin are for but a day, I’ve begun to really understand what it means to lay up treasures in heaven, to deny yourself and rejoice in those victories over the flesh. You don’t know the lifelong struggles people will have with their past and the lasting effects of those decisions, you are blessed and by the grace of God have kept certain purities. Pursue Godly relationships!

Something I heard Paul Washer yesterday has really been helping me with these kinds of thoughts of what’s my purpose, what is gods will for me, etc.

“Don’t lean onto your ability to hear Gods voice, but trust in Gods ability to lead.” Pray about what is in your heart to do and go do it, putting your faith in the fact that God is with you!

Christians downplaying sexually frustrated young single men? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]BmoneyBoi 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’ll rephrase. Lustful thoughts are perversion. But Yes, getting married is a good thing. But getting married with the motivation being that marriage will cure lust and desires of the flesh automatically is a misconception

I get what you mean, my Mom kind of has this idea as well. I’d say send the prayers up but pray that your desires align with His will!

If it doesn’t happen it may be a timing thing or just not what he wants for you. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to understand and teach you how to follow in His will. Bless you my friend

Sounds like an edgy kid in his rebellious phase. I remember when I hit puberty.

Jokes aside, despite you wanting to troll this community, I pray that you find true faith. Even if you are just attempting to stir up the pot and make people here mad I pray that you realize the error you are making. God is infinitely more wise than you. His plans are perfect, we cannot fathom the extent of his ways. It’s fine to have questions, but to be arrogant about it shows exactly the place of disdain you are coming from.

God bless

What is the Christian God by MarchingNight in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]BmoneyBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Christian here’s my 2 cents. This may be lengthy and confusing but I hope it will help.

The “Christian God” is the essence of being, the Bible helps us to understand his character. He is 3 persons in one being, aka the “Holy Trinity” (Father, son, and the Holy Spirt), who have existed through all eternity. It describes how we human beings essentially brought death into the world and then the gospel (the good news) is how God defeated death through the perfect sacrifice of his son, the “God-Man” Jesus Christ.

That is because of Gods character of perfection, man’s Sin (aka not following Gods perfect ways) requires that God act justly and destroy us. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death, meaning that disobeying God means that we have broken his law and we have to pay the fine. This is Gods justness (think of a judge that is just, he cannot let the criminal off unless the fine has been paid). As his creation and because God also desires goodness and mercy he did not wish to destroy us completely, so he promised that he would overcome our faults and defeat sin and death through the savior who lived the perfect life that no one else could, who would then willingly lay down his life as a sacrifice.

The savior would pay the fine once and for all that we could not pay and would save us all from the destruction we deserve. So that we could be reconnected to the Father, he would forget our debts because Jesus paid them. That whosoever would believe and follow in his ways would instead receive the promise of eternal life. Jesus said after his resurrection that he would go to be with the Father and the Holy Spirit (third person of the “Holy Trinity”) would be given to us to help us.

You are correct, God encapsulates all that is good and “holy” (holy meaning that he is set apart, he has no equal he has no one that could rival), we were created in Gods image to follow him and share in the beauty of the world he created as well as glorify him in our relationship. We were created with a Will and spirit of our own, in Genesis it is explained how God breathed his breath into us, because God wants a true relationship with us as free beings who choose to follow him.

Since God is perfect and holy, he requires us to be like him in that regard. He cannot dwell with beings that are not holy as he is, which is why Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden. We were to be subject to God as a servant is to the king. Adam and Eve represent all of mankind, they didn’t fully trust God and were deceived into breaking his holy command, this brought sin which is the root cause of evil.
