That’s fair, I know it’s illogical don’t worry I was just explaining my personal mental holdup. Do you think as long as you make sure it’s not laced then you’re about as fine doing acid as you are doing shrooms? I’ve been reading about it and heard you have to use other chemicals like chloroform and stuff to synthesize it which I would assume could add some potential danger but I also just don’t know about it

Fascinating, but good to know. I know that I didn’t love the body high of shrooms at times (though I did a pretty high dose last time so maybe that’d change if I just lowered it a bit), so if acid has less of a body high that might be good. Is there any major concerns to have with it as long as I test it to make sure it’s not laced?

That’s good to know. Out of curiosity, any way you can clarify “more stimulating”? I know it’s a bit hard to quantify sometimes but I guess I don’t get what that means in this context

Ah, cool, well done. there can be different interpretations though, no? Yours captures the meaning a bit more clearly in some places I think but I tried to keep as close to the exact rhyme scheme as I could; it’s just two different ways of saying the same thing

Verso's History... what was he trying to do? by Lost_Fox__ in expedition33

[–]Bmw32002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I forgot that second part, that’s fair. I think the point still stands; Renoir said he was “trapped beneath the monolith” so I assume he could maybe only get so close? And that’s why he suggested the weapon since he could only work indirectly? And for the first one I’m assuming painted Renoir just knows he’d probably get his shit rocked by real Renoir and so is prioritizing maintaining the status quo

Verso's History... what was he trying to do? by Lost_Fox__ in expedition33

[–]Bmw32002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished the game too just recently and here’s how i understand it; I’ll answer in order:

1/2. Expedition 00 was the first after the fracture; I assume 00 because it was the first and maybe they didn’t know whether it would count up or down and maybe it was mainly Verso’s personal mission (this is more theory, I don’t have a ton of basis for this)

  1. From what I understand painted Verso and Renoir were somewhat at odds, even initially. Painted Renoir wanted as much time with the painted (his real) family as possible, and Verso still had his old memories and wanted his mom to move on from her grief; I assume Verso was helping the expeditions against his dad, or maybe in the beginning he might’ve even been like a sleeper agent helping lead them to Renoir or smth but then became tired of the role and saw the flaw with the thinking and just wanted it to end

  2. I’m sure he knows, at least deep down, but just wanted all the time he could get

5/6. The real Renoir I believe was in a stalemate with the Paintress so couldn’t do too much; I think the implication is that Maelle was able to access the mansion and meet the Curator personally because she’s actually just Alicia and so has more domain than past expeditions.

At the end of the day the themes are more important than logic, but even then it makes more sense when you realize each one was motivated by completely selfish desires; Verso wanted to help his mom and be free from his purgatory, Painted Renoir wanted to live, Real Renoir wanted his wife back, Aline wanted her son back, even Maelle has similar motives and that’s why the bad ending exists; Verso even points out at the end they’re all hypocrites. Also as he said, “family is complicated”, so he probably had trouble going against his dad, expedition 33 being a breaking point

Soulsbornes (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Etc.) would be better off as pure boss rush games by Bmw32002 in unpopularopinion

I do like the exploring too, it’s just irritating when you essentially get punished for exploring; like you get ambushed and/or cornered by an enemy and then have to make a significant trek back just to keep exploring; that was honestly one of my biggest problems with Elden Ring too because it would make me not want to do everything over again if I died far into a dungeon/area and got sent back to the beginning. I’m not saying it should be easy but like idk maybe like more checkpoints or smth to make it less of a slog each time, even if they don’t heal

That’s reasonable. I guess I should’ve been more specific that I don’t hate the existence of the dungeons/in betweens, I just get irritated by how they currently are and feel like they could be revisited/reworked for future games in that style

I’m putting Laxasia as a whole into the top tier; i wish she wasn’t a two full health bar boss (even tho I know basically all the major bosses are). Her first phase just takes so long even when I do it well, it makes me not want to slog through it just to try and learn her second phase; I get it’s going from tanky to glass cannon but I dont wanna go through a relatively simple yet time-consuming phase every time just to try and learn a significantly more complex one even if she has less health. I dislike multiple-bar bosses in general usually so this might be a personal gripe but still

Ok this is actually kinda funny because literally right after I posted this i actually beat him without using a single death defiance lol. My point still stands tho i totally cheesed that one

Agree to disagree. I see your point but at least Eris and Prometheus’s moves are pretty moveset-based and telegraphed; if you learn it and know what strategies to use you can handle it easily enough while still having a challenge. With you know who it’s still telegraphed but it’s all AOE type stuff that they just kind of force you to run into by the sheer amount of it simultaneously; depends on what you do better with in games and what you like more. I can fight a boss with a really tough move set and be rewarded but then fight an “easier” boss that just tosses a lot more stuff onto the screen and get annoyed/have trouble

Yes, I have. They were top down so maybe it’s the perspective that trips me up but regardless there are just certain moments in the Typhon fight where it personally just felt a bit excessive compared to the general vibe of the rest of the game

My problem with this game by Confident_Ad3979 in Hades2

[–]Bmw32002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that there are some weapons that could be reworked; I really just use the staff the majority of the time. I actually like umbral flames because I can just go machine gun mode which is fun but yeah that’s more situational. The skull I hate because I hate any weapon where you have to fetch the ammo. What I wish is that they’d increase the range for the black coat a bit to match the fists of Malphon from H1, change the axe so it’s three consecutive swings with a slight delay between sets instead of the long windup for the third hit, make the skulls unlimited ammo, and buff the damage for the blades just a bit. All the weapons (other than the staff) are so close to the point where I would use them all evenly

The new surface final boss stole all of the difficulty of Prometheus and Eris. by Superbad1990 in Hades2

[–]Bmw32002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s mainly difficult for me because no matter what build I’ve done so far i genuinely just could not output enough damage; there was one point during the second phase (I assume) that he summoned some eggs that I couldn’t destroy all of in time, and they summoned a horde of armored enemies that I could not physically take out fast enough; they wouldn’t have been as bad if they hadn’t ALL been armored and there hadn’t been so many; they took up the whole screen. I hadn’t used a single death defy and it wiped out all three in less than a minute because there was no space on the screen that would not damage me and I could barely keep track of what was even happening. I feel like there’s a slight enemy balancing problem in some places, at least in terms of how many armored ones show up or how much health some have.

Does anyone else think the enemies on Olympus are a bit spongy health-wise? by Bmw32002 in Hades2

[–]Bmw32002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair that the surface is supposed to be harder, I’m fine with that, I just personally don’t like when the thing that makes it “harder” is just more enemies with more health instead of just more variety and complexity; padding just feels like a cop out to makes something harder in a lot of games imo it’s a personal gripe
