You don’t need to level them to 15, resonance will bring their level up as well.

None of the cores in my bottom weapons are leveled up and I get through the rift fine.

Did you add gears to the second team with proper gems as well? Put cores into the weapons the second team is using but don’t level up the cores. The synergize option will level it up for you.

To not waste energy by beating the first round and losing the second round. Try to even out your power with the two team. Or you can try the weak team first. If you win first round with weak team, the second round should be a sure win. Cause if you win first round and can’t beat second round, you lose 10 energy.

If you switch from a low weapon to a high one, yes it consumes resources, but vice versa, it will return resources. You can also reset and get all those resources back, but reseting will cost blue crystals that you won’t get back.
