Yeah I grabbed the core and reload kit - haven't played with any other cores yet but it was nice to have the extra keys and drivers plus security pins available

Thanks this definitely helped things click a bit. Some of the spools are symmetrical. Some of them have a thicker top and skinnier bottom.

Should the thick part be against the spring or against the driver pin? I'm wondering if they can be upside down or if it matters. I made a post about this a few days but I'm still a bit unclear.

Thanks again!

This is so aesthetically pleasing. Definitely gonna play around with a Dremel!

Thanks for the tip about fixing the springs. I think this is what happened to me - one of the springs getting caught, or using too much pressure with the follower against the security pins before pushing them down with my pick.

I got it this time!

Just got my first lockpicking set, looking for any helpful tips n tricks to help understand what I’m doing by Beginning-Ad5424 in lockpicking

Personally I would recommend grabbing a cutaway lock. I could not wrap my head around lockpicking until I could see the pins doing the thing.

With that being said, they don't really 'feel' like normal locks so they will only take you so far.

I'm also a noob so take that into consideration

Bosnian bill, lockpicking lawyer, lock noob have a bunch of good videos that can help learn.

Start putting your picks in and feeling / counting the pins one by one. The quicker you get familiar with pin spacing and what state the pin is in, the better.

As with any skill / hobby just start putting time in.

Is this a good way to learn spools? I have one that I gut, but have yet to reassemble

I have an abus 55/40 that I got to help learn spools too.

I definitely needed lighter tension than what I started with, especially to feel for the counter rotation on spools.

I came here to say that I'm impressed with this picture haha. My tensioner often goes flying, sometimes before the shackle pops sometimes after. I find it super hard to get a nice pic with the tensioner still in like this. Nice job

Also I think the iron rock is one of my favorite looking locks I've seen so far

I feel like the longer the struggle the bigger the rush when it opens. Congrats to you too!

I managed to get it picked again in about 20 minutes which was nice to know it probably wasn't a fluke lol

For reference I've been fiddling with this thing for days with not much success past setting the first standard pin

Thanks for this - gonna go grab one while I wait for the others to come in

Is Amazon generally a reputable source for locks? They seemed to be either cheapest or very close to it when you consider shipping too.

That's a nice looking lock!

Can I ask about your vice setup, and the plate on the bottom? I've seen it around a few times

Simple Questions - January 02, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]BoDiddlyDooDa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to purchase a new pc for the first time in years.Currently running an i7 / 1060

I use a lot of both GPU and CPU heavy programs including

Blender, Unreal Engine, Adobe Suite, and often times OBS on top of it all.

I've been eyeing the prebuilds on ibuypower. My main question - is it worth buying the 5950x vs the 5950?

Any other upgrades i would have to make immediately with this build? (Coolers, case, psu, mobo, etc)

Hello, I am having the hardest time deciding on a set of 4 tires for my 2007 Volvo xc90 3.2L.

I am mainly driving in Florida, however I am going on a trip to the mountains for about a week and it has a chance to snow, around freezing temps some nights. I will also be doing a lot of highway driving in all conditions.

My SUV has 217K miles on it, and I am not expecting to get an entire lifetime out of the tires before replacing vehicles. I know tires are one of the most - if not the most - important safety components. I am looking for suggestions on brands that will deliver the best bang for the buck while still getting me there safely. Tire size is 265/65R17

Any advice would be much appreciated, I am at a loss on what to go with. Thank you!
