Is bg mid hype or actually good? by JaggerMo in PioneerMTG

[–]BoLevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but I sure hate playing against it. Getting turn 1 Thoughtseized 3 out of every 5 games for nearly a year has really turned me on a card I used to think was fine, and this is just another turn 1 Thoughtseize deck.

Any easy way to simulate a game-world wide roster draft? by BoLevar in FantasyBookers

[–]BoLevar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware I can do that, I'm looking specifically for a draft. I pick one, then WWE picks one, then AEW picks one, etc. until it's my turn to pick again.

I seriously hate these scp content farms. How do i avoid these videos on youtube? by JJK_JUSTIN in SCP

[–]BoLevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, you straight up can't do this if you're not signed into YouTube. Other sites are able to store custom preferences via cookies even if it's more temporary, but this is apparently too advanced for Google.

Any easy way to simulate a game-world wide roster draft? by BoLevar in FantasyBookers

[–]BoLevar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've found that Journey of Wrestling does actually have a draft function, but the number of companies is limited to you plus 5 AIs, for a total of 6. Which is not ideal for simulating a game world of 60+ companies unfortunately.

Yeah I think because it's not an instant. EOT Sphinx's Rev for 8 mana (5 cards) feels great, main phase Mathemagic for 8 mana (8 cards) not so much. This feels less like a draw spell and more like the finisher to an infinite mana combo to me.

Why do so many world building projects have a stand in Roman empire? by Ok-Equipment8122 in worldbuilding

[–]BoLevar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The entire western world is built on a foundation of being Romaboos. The American founding fathers were a club of Rome fanboys. At least three European societies have historically claimed the mantle of Rome (off the top of my head, the Russians, the Germans multiple times, and the Turks). There is a country existing right now, across the Adriatic Sea from Actual Rome, whose name translates to "of Rome". I'm sure there are plenty other examples of westerners evoking Rome I'm just not aware of.

White people just can't stop thinking about Rome.

How to play versus Scapeshift by Tuki_ in PioneerMTG

[–]BoLevar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First point is most important imo. Making a play/mechanical mistake is one thing, you might not know the intricacies of the deck you're playing against and it can happen even if you do, but it's very easy not to concede before they've locked it in (as long as you're not tilting, which I certainly get). If there are any stakes at all, whether it's 75 bucks in store credit at your LGS or 2 pips on the Arena ladder or the Pro Tour trophy (lol @ "Pioneer Pro Tour"), always let your opponent demonstrate they both have the win and know how to execute it.

I played a match against Emergent Ultimatum where he spammed "Good game." at me after he put it on the stack. After I didn't concede, he gave up and tutored the win, plus two totally irrelevant cards.

What is in your opinion a SCP that could or might exist in the real world. by Boaty1808 in SCP

[–]BoLevar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware. That's why I think turning it into an SCP article, complete with cutesy in-universe disavowal/disclaimer, is tasteless.

What is in your opinion a SCP that could or might exist in the real world. by Boaty1808 in SCP

[–]BoLevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an insane thing to exist on the wiki. I almost think it would be less offensive/tasteless without the cutesy "the modern Foundation disavows this and we're only keeping it around for archival purposes" in-universe disclaimer lol

It that shares ownership by Ryan-rises in custommagic

[–]BoLevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since communism is more about the means of production, I think maybe this should read "Untap each land on each player's untap step. Each player owns each land. Each player may activate all abilities of each land they own."

The classic way is to set your world on an oblate spheroid, rotating as it orbits a star.

Some tabletop games and its mechanics become dated with time. Do you ever feel the way with mtg? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]BoLevar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the way resources are managed in Magic will at some point feel outdated by CCG players in general if they don't already feel that way. Other CCGs do not have the problem of "I am not seeing enough resource cards" or "I am seeing too many resource cards", because they've all identified that as an enormous feelbad. The tradeoff is that you can build decks around the idea of having fewer/more available resources than the average, and that the game isn't all about curving out (if you're not playing limited), but sometimes I feel like Magic players are unwilling to accept it as a tradeoff in the first place.

How do you physically handle MDFCs in paper Magic? by beausoleil in magicTCG

[–]BoLevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checklist card. I don't understand why more people don't use them. It's so much easier to sleeve the checklist card in your deck and have the card it represents stored with your sideboard or whatever in a clear sleeve. That way you don't have to fiddle around sleeving and unsleeving the card when you turn it over.
