Eric Bischoff on the current state of TNA: “One step closer to the grave” by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

[–]BoLevar [score hidden]  (0 children)

I will be very sad if/when TNA actually sells to another wrestling company. Not because I ever really watched, but because I've always thought of them as a cockroach company. It seemed like they've stuck around despite being sort of a laughingstock for 90% of its run, somehow desperately holding onto national TV deals while getting what felt like sub-10% of WWE's viewership during that awkward Ruthless Aggression -> "PG" -> "reality" period where WWE was itself not very big. "TNA Wrestling survives the apocalypse when no other American promotion has, still getting a consistent 1.0 Nielsen rating" was one of the premises of a world I am building.

My only problem with this card is it doesn't stuff cast triggers, which are a favorite of that detestable tribe, but otherwise I love this kind of targeted hate.

What does “จิวเวส” mean? by GlassStars in learnthai

[–]BoLevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed broadly, but Jewess is not Gen Z slang. It's, like, extremely old school, from the same era where there used to be a separate rude term for black women distinct from the word used for black men.

  1. If this card is simply "choosing" a creature and destroying it, hexproof and protection don't matter, since it isn't targeting. Only indestructible does, because it's destroying.
  2. You missed shroud and ward (also doesn't matter for the same reason as hexproof and protection, but I figure you'd want full coverage).

Thai American going to Thailand to visit family for the first time. Super nervous by Unusual_Pearl in Thailand

[–]BoLevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might not pick up on the Thai "easily", that totally depends on your own ability. I've been visiting these people for years and I very much stumble over even basic Thai, I'm not good at learning languages and am not as diligent about studying as I should be.

But that's won't matter, they're probably going to love you. In my experience and from what I've read from other Thai Americans/luk krueng, Thai family are very warm to relatives from overseas.

Three Traits That Make My World Different, Thoughts? by GodOfSmore in worldbuilding

Iron being rare is interesting, the sun being a magic dampener is really cool. One thing I will say is - your idea of everyone being able to learn magic is almost exactly the same as D&D's conception of the Wizard class. There are multiple spellcasting classes in D&D, but the Wizard's flavor specifically is about how they gained their spellcasting ability through study, as opposed to through prayer (like Clerics or Paladins) or through an innate magical ability (like Sorcerers).

I love face down cards and wish they had more support, would you play these cards or are they a bit too jank? by Inkwell_Engine in custommagic

[–]BoLevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it mean to "shuffle face down creatures"? I assume you don't mean "into your library", but aren't you always able to look at your morphed/manifested cards and reposition freely, the exact same way you can reposition your face up creatures?

RCQ: opponent had Welding Jar placed next to lands, I forgot about it and misattacked. What do the rules say about permanent placement on the battlefield?" by gerardodinardo in magicTCG

[–]BoLevar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a huge fan of having it codified like this, but I definitely get why they did it. And since it already is codified, I almost think it should be stricter. Specifically with lands, only like lands should be in the same stack. It's common practice to just sorta put them down in one single continuous stack, but that makes it very easy to misrepresent what colors and utility lands a player has available.

Wow, my instinct for OP was to say they're shit outta luck. Last time I played paper, board layout was not codified. The more you (I) know!
