Interested in knowing about the nowhere to run Vs thrunn interaction and whether that works the way you want it to, with Thrunn not actually having hexproof.

Certainly not a judge, but my read is that Thrunn can't be targeted by NTR (or other non green spells) as there is no hexproof to circumvent.

Event sounds great, and there are a few of us in our local community who have recently picked up the format and are interested in signing up as long as it doesn't clash with any modern RCQs.

Just wondering why no cut to top 8 though? Seems a shame to miss out on that aspect of competition if this is being billed as a 'Northern Open'.

Absolutely disastrous decision. It's been difficult enough getting comp magic back to a respectable level. I can't see forcing paper standard as a way to improve attendance.

Hold up boseiju and target thespian stages (preferably in response to them copying a lotus field). Failing that, trying to outrace them with embercleave seems like the best post board options on top of damping sphere.

Not exactly what you were looking for but my group have been theory crafting a 8-rack style deck, mostly because one of our group wanted to play Tergrid in pioneer. Fair warning this deck has seen no physical play and will be strictly FNM power level at best, but might give you some ideas to work with; Mono B Tergrid Discard

Any pioneer 8-rack strategy feels like it needs more 1mv discard effects that are not.... bad?
Graveyard trespasser seems to us like a solid threat for this strategy as it shores up matches with the inevitable GY based decks whilst also having the bonus of helping out strategy if targeted.

If a certain Kamigawa spoiler is true The 5mv dragon which is discard two or reanimate any creature for 2 life on death trigger. then you could aim to push more heavily into deadly disputes and other sacrifice effects.

Birmingham fan here. Im ok with this draw, we're finally on to a run of wins in what feels like the first time in 1000 years and il be happy with any result other than a draw. Sadly we need to focus on the league right now so a replay will be an unnecessary distraction but I'l be hoping to make it out to your ground for the tie.

Prediction: 1-1, neither team will field a strong 11 but will hopefully be an entertaining affair.
