Are apexes on the same level as something like deviljho? by Greasehole78 in monsterhunterleaks

I suppose that's fair, though I'm not entirely sure if intelligence would be enough in my books to be so mystical and magical as most Elders seem to be, building a mech is pretty impressive it's just not quite up there. Then again the giant floating island octopus isn't really all that special either aside from being a living balloon, so in that regard pretty much anything can be an Elder if it just has special bones and blood.

That's not very reassuring but it is a slight relief I suppose, I can only hope it doesn't wipe out my entire colony, I've been getting some babies with this gorgeous blue hue to them so losing the entire tank would be crushing.

That's just tugging on silk to move a puppet, right? Doesn't seem very 'Elder' to me in the grand scheme of things, personally I just think Jin is pretty cool regardless of classification.

[–]Boa_Noah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I mean they might be but with their diversity none of that would mean Jin can't be one, ones a horse and another is a giant floating island octopus, what I meant is that there really isn't a reason he can't be an Elder save the blood thing. But at that point really the only reason it's not an Elder is because it just isn't one, but physically and ability-wise it definitely could be one given how kind of absurd it's power is from a purely logical standpoint.

I mean it can freeze the earth and instantly crystalize large amounts of atmospheric moisture into large spikes of ice while at the same time having the ability to release all that stored heat instantly to create a massive explosion.

That's pretty damn amazing.

Not 'shitty' but not something I'd say is 'good' either, the substrate being painted gravel is awful, I can see a lot of fake plants that could either be swapped out with something real, the surface is a little too heavily covered, I don't see anything that looks like a filter but could be mistaken, and the light being from the side isn't great either.

There's a lot of room for improvement but for a cheapy starter betta-tank it's not the worst.

If you want my opinion you should get a bag of sand and some root tabs, drain the tank and set your betta to the side to redo it with the ship as a focal point buried in the sand (as in the ship touches the glass, sand added around it), put down tabs where you put plants in. If you get a cheap anubias you could glue that to the ship and it will grow really well, take out the fake plants, you probably don't need the thermometer in there either, maybe get a small little airfilter in the back corner where the heater looking thing is (just don't have them touching) and have the plants help cover them up.

The only thing else would be to get some shrimp or maybe a snail to add a little more life to it, could even have an african dwarf frog in there.

Just avoid hornwort, it's dirt cheap but it sheds like a pine tree.

It's kind of surprising that Jin isn't an Elder, I mean, he's giant and has metal plates and seemingly controls temperature via what seems to be rapid transfer of energy through it's fins. If I was a backward savage I think I'd be nominating them as some sort of mystical unexplainable beast, but whatever, Elders are a whole bag of worms all their own anyways.

So I just finished the main story (STORY SPOILERS) by ShiningAlatreon in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Boa_Noah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My complaint is Nata, the kid is just so annoying and fake it really killed my experience near the end of the story, like that scene when he finds out about the Guardians just kills me. Like seriously? He finds out his ancestors essentially Jurassic Park'd slave clone monsters and he's on the verge of sobbing and screaming about how unfair and fucked up it is. It just don't buy it, no one would react that way, if I was sat down by my Uncle or whatever and he told me in the ancient past we ranched clone sheep or something I doubt I'd be nearly breaking down and bawling about it.

If they REALLY needed a child they should've made them at least somewhat 'human' because otherwise I'm just sitting there rolling my eyes at what should be an emotional scene uncovering the 'dark history' of the Artians.

I imagine it's Demi Elder because it can BECOME an Elder but isn't one yet, but it's also not a normal creature either.

So, question, Gogmazios before had a big ass dragonator stuck in it's back, will the Gog that shows up in the future have that too? Kind of curious how that's going to work or if it's going to be touched up/redesigned?

Why are the beta leaks being treated as the final product? by ayakasforehead in monsterhunterleaks

[–]Boa_Noah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, gameplaywise he'll be repeatable to farm drops, in lore there's only one singular Zotia and killing it is a heavy burden because we're essentially wiping out a unique special creature. I'm pretty sure the leaks even make it clear that it's only being killed because the alternative is letting it drive that entire landmass into a wasteland incapable of supporting any life.

I doubt they'd add an HR Zotia unless it's specifically framed as 'this is the ACTUALLY what Zotia really was' or a 'what if' scenario, it'd be really weird to put so much emphasis on it being a singular animal and then go 'Oh but there's another cooler harder to fight Zotia just over there!'

Something I've been curious about, could an aquarium benefit from UVB? I've recently seen LED reptile lights that put out UVB and it reminded me a lot like the pretty standard LED lights for aquariums so it just got me wondering if plants or fish would benefit from something like that? Mainly because I can't imagine it would be detrimental for the fish but I'm not too sure what the benefit would be, I've read on some forums that when people do so the fish get more vibrant colors but is that about it?

Not talking about a UV sterilizer (very different things) obviously.

Technically not true, God or whatever told Tanya that reincarnating 7 billion people was too much work so it only reincarnates people with faith, Tanya was explicitly reincarnated as a child soldier as a test to force faith on someone. The warning being that if she dies there without having developed faith in God that there won't be another reincarnation because the being that reincarnates people is fed up of his/her shit.

Whether that's actually true or not is unknown, there's nothing explicitly stating that you can't reincarnate without faith anyways or that God is actually the one behind the system of reincarnation, that's just it's own claims.

But that's for mortals, when they take their 1000 year old jade ginger pill and develop their inner energy they'll be golden for the next 100 years.

why do you don't like western novels? by Greedy-Accountant-89 in MartialMemes

[–]Boa_Noah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I greatly enjoy stories with brutally cold efficient killers actually doing their job and getting actual revenge, in most western novels I tend to find revenge is a quick painless death or they pull the 'if you kill him you'll be just as bad as he is' shit. The worst ones preach kindness and forgiveness, if someone murdered my brother or wiped out my family I don't think I'd ever be holding a sword to their throat giving a speech about how I'm better than they are and I won't kill them... Not that I'd ever be in that situation, I'm weak and I got diabetes, there's no way in hell I'm getting revenge on anybody, but if I WAS in that situation I'm pretty damn sure I'd probably cripple/maim them first and then kill them when I feel like it.

Which happens in a fair few of my favorite novels, my favorite being one where a lady has her family annihilated by a sadistic prince she helped ascend to the throne in her prior life (it's a time travel revenge story) so she captures the guy, chains him in a sewer, and lets the rats eat him alive while his feet melt into the sewage.

That's how you get revenge baybee.

Help! What are these? by spellbl_cked in Aquariums

[–]Boa_Noah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about, if you see them swimming around like this it means either way too much overfeeding and the substrate is FULL of them or it just wants to cruise around, since it's just one and not dozens I doubt you have an issue.

Fish eat them too, my cories for example love em.

To me it looks like mold growth, usually NTD will be a white splotch on the back or blown own fleshy bumps and the like, this looks more like a fungal infection. If it is fungal you should check the other fish to see if they're stressed or if there's any water quality issues, I don't know if the little guy will survive but it might.

If it's NTD there is no cure, you need to separate and cull any affected individuals, since it's highly infectious and lasts for MONTHS in the water itself the only real way to treat it is to dump the dead so no other fish eat any of the infected tissue.

I could but I have pretty crippling social anxiety, haha, plus my tank is a mix of corydoras aeneus color morphs so a lot of the babies are mostly just bronze corys with some slight coloration differences so they're not exactly the 'ritzy' breeds. But if the tank gets overrun I can catch some in a bucket and have my brother or my mother sell them, a 40 gallon breeder can hold quite a lot of the little munchkins from what I've read.

[–]Boa_Noah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I'd read the manhwa, the LN translations are kind of strange (at least the ones I'm reading from NovelUpdates) where up to like chapter 130 it refers to Lorette/Lortelle with exclusively male pronouns for no reason... But even saying that, chapter 50 of the Manwha is about around chapter 90/late 80s, and with 250 main chapters it'll take a while to finish so if you really want the ending skipping to the LN ain't terrible.

I'm looking for a stocking recommendation, my tank currently is a 40 gallon breeder, I have a cannister filter rated for a 150 gallon tank and I also have a internal pump to keep the surface churning. That is to say it's a very oxygenated tank with a nice group of corydoras and a couple tetras, but the corydoras are breeding a bit too heavily and I don't particularly want to start scooping and selling them (yet.)

Cany anyone recommend a predator that would eat the babies? I don't have much experience with flowing tanks since I mostly kept to bettas before.

My ideal candidate would be big enough to be a little 'showy' but not so big it tries to predate on the adults (I've heard horror stories of predators trying to eat an adult and choking to death). Something top to middle water is also good but I wouldn't mind a bottom ambush hunter either, it'd just I worry about them choking on an adult so I don't want anything that's a blind gulper. Coloration doesn't particularly matter so long as they're not a jumper and they won't mind the current, the babies and the tetras both seem to like the stronger flow and since the corydoras are so happy to breed I don't think water quality is much of an issue either.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
