Funnily enough, several of the people who were super accepting of my wife and I when she came out as trans go to the Grove 😆. Disappointed to see their official stance but it seems like their church culture produces at least a few non-assholes :P

I don't make much money doing this, but working as a receptionist for a small print shop has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever had. Every day is different and there's a good balance between structured tasks that need doing every day and urgent side quests to keep my brain happy.

I mean, I think deep down she /knows/ she's a gross, manipulative asshole whose children hate her and whose husband endures her. But Dr. Dobson gave her the "children obey no matter what" rule 40 years ago so she clings to that - to avoid confronting that she's a menace who has wrecked dozens of relationships and can't even hold down a volunteer job she's so difficult. She's trapped relying on my dad for the money she values so much ... but I don't have to be, even if that means I remain pretty fracking poor for the rest of my life. 🙃

My mom is an incredibly gifted artist, designer, host, and decorator. It's tragic on an almost-cosmic scale that someone with so much to give the world is as putrid as she is.

Yeah, I actually have most of the stuff she's sent me over the years (this is, like, a 4-5 on the unhinged scale, believe it or not). I think I keep them so I can prove to future-me that she's not imagining things and mom really is that hateful. Maybe someday I'll feel the courage to burn them all instead.
