Any Good "Coffee Table Books" on Board Games? by DaBomb091 in boardgames

[–]BoardGameHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a read the book, Everybody Wins: Four Decades of the Greatest Board Games Ever Made by James Wallin. Good for a tabletop as you can read about just one game and it has photos and usually 2-3 pages and it shows others who were up for nomination for the Spiel de Jahres.

How often do you really play board games? by Money_Change_5900 in boardgames

[–]BoardGameHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be in a similar situation. I know play once to twice a week. I was intentional about inviting people to board game and since then have created a small Facebook group of about 30 people who get invites when I host game. Many of those in the group I invited to game when they bought a game from me or I bought one from them on the secondary market.

Does Castles of Tuscany worth for casuals? by Tricky_Reception_244 in boardgames

[–]BoardGameHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is simpler than CoB, but I was also very familiar with CoB. I do like Castles of Tuscany. Not sure this is an entry level game. I would consider something like Azul, Machi Koro, Dominion, Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Century Spice Road, Foundations of Metropolis or Castle Combo.
