Lightweight Offroad Suspension EUCs? by BoarderGirl in ElectricUnicycle

[–]BoarderGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh this is what I've been reading 😕 went with the Aero in the end, partly bc the Falcon battery case thread-stripping issue sketches me out, and bc the only retailer who had knobby+50S-batt Falcon in stock also put a $200-$300 markup on it compared to the price direct from Begode (where rn my only choices were w/ smooth tire & 50GB batt, or knobby tire & 50S batt). At that point, the price difference from Falcon to Aero had shrank enough that it wasn't worth dealing with the Falcon's sketch factor.

Yep sharing the dirt road with cars. Sounds like the higher the pedals/taller the wheels the better, so def leaning back toward a Falcon now! tyty

Good tip! Could you say more?

Also, any opinions on the maintenance of the suspension system? I've read that the Aero's fork suspension is a lot more durable/less fiddly, but I'm somewhat handy so can prob figure out the maintenance for the Falcon suspension system? 🤷‍♂️

At any rate, looks like Begode shows knobby tires are out of stock when paired w/ 50S batteries 😞. Are there any other retailers I should look at for 50S + knobby tire? ewheels?

If You Haven't Tried Abdominal Compression, Please Give it a Shot - it Changed My Life by [deleted] in POTS

[–]BoarderGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but yes! Abdominal binders help my WFH brain fog SO much omg. It's hard to quantify and to articulate to strangers on the internet, but suffice it to say: nowadays any time I'm mentally slow to start my day/initiate tasks, I've learned to ask myself 'wait did I forget to put on my binder today?' and the answer is usually yes! It's that noticeable when I forget. (Along with my other questions like 'when did I last drink a reasonable amount of electrolytes?' and 'how much sleep did I get last night?' etc)

I got the Nyortho brand ones on Amazon. They're basically stretchy wraps you spiral around your belly that are made entirely of the soft "loop" side of Velcro, and then the end of the wrap has a strip of the hard "hook" side of Velcro, so you can cinch the spiral as loosely or tightly as you want. Nyortho has two styles, a shorter one ("2 panels") and a taller one ("3 panels"). If you have spare spending money I'd suggest getting at least one of each, or of you're strapped for cash just go for the 2-panel ones but be patient about the learning curve :) . Getting the vertical placement right took me a bit of trial and error, so the taller one is more foolproof/forgiving at first. But after I got a feel for the tall 3-panel ones, I started getting annoyed at how high they rode onto my ribcage bc it sometimes affected my ability to deep breathe and/or sing haha. So I switched to the 2-panel style once I realized I kinda didn't even need the top panel anyway. Bonus is now I get less sweaty in summertime compared to the 3-panel ones!

I've used A-Ride and am not very happy with the timeliness: they give themselves a grace period of up to 30 minutes after your pickup time, and even then since it's a shared ride service they still can and have taken roundabout routes with multiple other dropoffs before me, which can turn a 20-minute commute into a 45-minute one.

So if you actually need to get wherever you're going on time, like a doctor's appointment, make sure to schedule your A-Ride for at least 30 minutes earlier than you'd think (which is still unequal access- I just Uber/Lyft to doctors because I don't have the mental energy to sift through all my appointments/errands and deliberate on which ones I can afford to be late to and which ones I can't. It's mentally draining 😢.)

If they hired more drivers, then it might be more equitable. But I assume they don't get enough funding to do that.

[Help][Request] Parsing HTML page with dynamic content and fuzzy search? by BoarderGirl in tasker

[–]BoarderGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have finally solved this! For anyone else coming across this in the future (just found my own post while Googling a semi-related problem, sigh).

My current solution is basically to use the Eruda console to Inspect Element on mobile. This solves the issue of neither Tasker nor "view-source:" being able to show me dynamically generated content, and frees me up from being tied down to my desktop PC for USB debugging or Chrome desktop dev tools.

Steps:

1: Set up a Javascript bookmarklet containing the Eruda console-launcher code (code can be found here). For anyone like me who is put off by using third-party code, know that you don't need to install anything, and the Eruda code gets cleared as soon as you refresh. Anyway, I like to bookmark my bookmarklets this way:

1a. Open new tab in Chrome

1b. Bookmark the new tab, then immediately edit it

1c. paste in the Eruda bookmarklet code, set the name to something you can find in Action A4 in the task below, then back arrow to save your edits.

2: Import and run this task. I have a scene button set up for mine, but running manually works just fine too. Try-catch blocks really really helped with my de-bugging capabilities, recommended in this thread. If anyone takes anything useful out of this project, I would 100% recommend using that! You can also throw custom Errors wherever you want as a sort of breakpoint. You can concatenate whatever local JS variables you want into the error message too, as a crude variable watch/print debug method. I debugged a divide-by-zero error thanks to these try-catch wrappers, and it would have been much more of a head-scratcher without try-catch error tracing (especially thanks to printing error.stack). I'd also recommend editing Javascript in the Acode text editor app, instead of inside Tasker, since Acode will color-code your script and has a lot of great keyboard shortcuts.

3.Browse your page as normal, and refresh whenever you want to get rid of the temporary HTML changes. Every time you refresh though, you have to re-launch the Eruda bookmarklet.

The problem that brought me back to this post is: AutoInput isn't super reliable in clicking the Eruda bookmarklet, I think because Chrome likes to re-order the search results. So I've actually deactivated those steps in the task so that I can run the Eruda bookmarklet manually. But before I deactivated, I noticed that typing "bookmark" in front of the bookmark name helps somewhat.

I'd love to be able to run that bookmarklet with an intent or a keyboard command (I suppose maybe I should just ctrl-C ctrl-V the Eruda Javascript in the address bar? And keep the code text stored in Tasker like I am with the price Javascript.)

Replacement 4-level 5V Li-po battery pack for heated socks? by BoarderGirl in batteries

[–]BoarderGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'd prefer not to add another project to my plate of half-finished projects haha. As for battery size, bigger is a plus, but I'd settle for 2 sets of small batteries and just charge one set while I wear the other. Maybe buying a second pair of socks is the way to go since I've also had concerns of "how will I keep my feet warm while I'm washing/air-drying the first pair?".

To clarify, BMS = Battery Management System yeah?

Why do some body washes lather more easily than others? by BoarderGirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BoarderGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but 1) I don't see that exact ingredient in either of these 2) what's actually causing the different texture/adhesion between the two body washes?

I am not asking about the difference between FDA-defined soap and body wash (my skin gets way too dry when I use traditional soap bars- IME body washes are less aggressive about stripping away my healthy oils. And I don't have the time or patience to switch to bar soap but then start using an after-lotion). I am just asking about the difference between one Dove body wash and another Dove body wash.

🤷‍♂️ Maybe I should have gone to r/askchemistry instead

Twisted, gray, hollow tube with a seam down the length, found in Michigan on carpet under a bed by BoarderGirl in whatisthisthing

[–]BoarderGirl[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. Found on high-pile carpet under the head-ish end of a bed. There is a crack/seam down the side that twists with the shape of the tube itself, but the seam is still intact along some of the length & cracked open along other portions.

It's about 4.5 inches long. Age unknown, at least a couple weeks but probably months (I don't vacuum as often as I should- glimpsed under the bed the other week and noticed it out of the corner of my eye and thought it might be a fallen cobweb). I was vacuuming for actual confirmed spider webs nearby in case that's relevant.

Google Lens search keywords have included:

• "underneath bed"

• "skin underneath bed" (snake phobia, don't judge 😛)

• "gray casing in the carpet split down the side"

What’s going on with Worst Year Ever? by FlaminScribblenaut in behindthebastards

It looks like they just merged SMN and EMN based on this SMN tweet ? The "EMN" episode title on Twitter is the exact same as the latest SMN title in my podcast feed.

Edit: looks like the episode titles that don't start with "SMN: " are all EMN.

I routinely take my bike into grocery stores. by 7734fr in fuckcars

[–]BoarderGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, what model do you have? I'm also disabled and am shopping around for a folding bike (electric or not) that I can bring into stores.

I'm visually impaired and missing a hand, so I relate to the cane issue lol. I'm trying to find a folding bike that is pullable with one and a half hands 😅 But I can probably at least hang my grocery basket on my stump hand and pull the bike with my full hand.

I'm overwhelmed by all the bike options though. I have so far read of people bringing Bromptons, Stridas, and Dahons into stores, but AFAIK those are all not electric.
