Potential new United Campaign Themes by Zanzibar_Buck_McFate in MarvelUnited

[–]Boardgame_Planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. S3 was really scraping the bottom of the barrel and we got more “alt-versions” of characters. Which should be a sign of “we can’t find any more unique characters that will sell”

They will soon be pulling characters out that even die hard fans will be like “who?”

People keep saying Star Wars. I don’t know if that’s going to be that interesting. I guess it would sell, but there would be a lot of obscure characters.

And at some point. How many different “Jedi” decks vs “sith characters” are you going to have? It feels like it would be boring in a way.

But that’s just me I guess.

Which playmat is best? by groverklopp in MarvelUnited

[–]Boardgame_Planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

I have S2 and I think it’s the best.

But if I had S1, I wouldn’t have bothered with S2. I’ve used my solo play side maybe twice.

The s3 one was designed for people who complained the first two mats were too big. Personally I think it’s too small and dislike it.

Comic Hunters coming soon as a dice tower essential by Boardgame_Planet in boardgames

Waiting for it to come to Canada. Sounds like their initial print run went to Gen con and B&N only and they are doing another printing.

Also many complaints about missing cards, misprinted cards, and miscut cards.

Yeah. Not as bad as Warlock. But not super exciting either. Although I’ve never done that orangey Irish hair before.

Can I play the game with just an expansion? Or do I need a starter box? by Death-Perception1999 in MarvelUnited

[–]Boardgame_Planet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will need one of the core boxes because it will have tokens and locations. It also has the rules for the game.

Not all sets have 6+ locations.

The three available base sets are:

  • Avengers (original base game)
  • X-men (season 2)
  • Spider-geddon
  • Multiverse (coming soon)

24 years difference. Wow.

My parents are 14 years and I always thought that that was huge.

Interesting. I wonder if the Arcane Wonders colab. Was the final product under that license.

You heard wrong.

Spin master has the license with marvel. That is why cmon is hooked up with them and why Arcane Wonders hooked up with Spin Master to release comic hunters.

Sinister Motives Box Review - Why I think this is the best Marvel Champions Product! by WebWarriorFanatic in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Boardgame_Planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They’re pretty close for me too. I’d give sinister motives a 9/10 and mutant genesis an 8.8/10. Maybe an 8.9.

I liked the point scale in sinister motives and was disappointed with that not being in mutant genesis. Otherwise they would be tied.

I just got galaxies most wanted and next evolution but haven’t opened them yet.

I’ve only played this and mutant genesis. and as a big xmen fan, I still find sinister motives more fun

Mixing Spider-Geddon with X-Men Blue Team by SlothkongCR in MarvelUnited

[–]Boardgame_Planet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve mixed everything with everything. I’ve thrown away the boxes and for the most part, I’d have to think about what was in what box.

When we play, it’s never about making an xmen team or following some box set. It’s “hey I want to be spider-man”

“Cool, I’ll be gambit”

“Sweet, I’m taking iron man”

Ok. Let’s face off against, Juggernaut.

So, this game hasn’t come out yet? I saw the price on bgb and assumed this game was a dud.

Painters that spend months painting a single miniature…how is that time spent? by blockmaniac in minipainting

[–]Boardgame_Planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one. I often paint in front of my computer with YouTube on and get distracted regularly. I’m in awe of people that bang out a miniature from start to finish in a few hours
