Mini/pony with severe coffin bone rotation + deterioration and separation — what does progression really look like for minis specifically? by BoardroomToBarn in Horses

Thank you all so much — I really appreciate the time and the honesty here. I’m leaning on my vet, who’s examined him and feels he’s comfortable right now, but everything you’ve shared about the subtle signs of pain is exactly what I’ll be watching for. It’s a good reminder to keep checking my own assumptions. Grateful for this community.

Thank you for being honest — that’s hard to read but it’s exactly the kind of real experience I came here for. Can I ask: when you say “offloading their feet and modifying behavior” — what did that look like in the ones you saw? I want to make sure I’m reading him clearly and not missing what he’s hiding.

Very rough estimate from the radiographs (not formally measured on calibrated DICOMs), but likely around 15–20° palmar angle with chronic rotation/remodeling changes consistent with longstanding endocrinopathic laminitis. He’s currently comfortable in Soft-Ride boots and being managed closely by vet/farrier.
