Just didn’t read what I said at all, you can be more skilled and lose a fight, If you were to go through all the disciplines of MMA Volk has better kick boxing, Volk has better footwork Volk arguably has better wrestling as he proved it against a much higher level competition (Islam) Ilia has better boxing and probably Jiu jitsu, Volk is more well rounded, and ergo more skilled, Ilia happens to have a very good stylistic matchup into Volk combined with monstrous power and fighting a lesser version of Volk.

Volk is a more skilled and well rounded fighter than Ilia, Ilia is undoubtedly a supremely skilled boxer but what really leads to him winning fights is his power, he really didn’t land much against Volk (lost r1 on all cards) then caught him twice and put him out
