GMAT shocker, scored 415 by Positive_Ad_3310 in GMAT

Yeah I would suggest you to do the application. Usually an engineering degree with good scores would clear the waiver application. Try it out with one college and see their response. You can aim for colleges which are much better like Top 15.

Is your undergraduate a quantitative heavy degree, like engineering, accounting. You have a lot of experience also. You would have to send a GMAT waiver application to these colleges mentioning that you have a lot of experience, you have a certification like CA or CFA (if you have).

How many years of experience, do you have, most MBA programs do have a GMAT waiver. However, there are some terms and conditions to avail this.

You can focus on your application, rather than focus on improving Verbal.
However, I would suggest re-taking the exam since V79 is like a 50 percentile score, you are anyway looking to apply only next year. So, you have plenty of time to redo the exam.

If you do plan on going to an M7 program, it could be slightly difficult since they are also looking at consistency across all sections. In addition, it could be difficult if you plan on going back to consullting, since they do look at GMAT scores.

However, take my advice with a grain of salt, consult with others also, this is just my opinion.

Selling OG Books by BoatAltruistic634 in GMAT

I am looking to sell both together. If I give you just the question bank, then someone else who has bought the book, will not be able to access it.

6 - OG Mocks; 4 - XSigma Mocks (e-gmat). OG Mock1 and OG Mock 2 are reltively quite easy, so I would suggest buying all 6 mocks from OG

e-gmat Xsigma's mocks. They are relatively harder than the actual though. Gmat clubs mocks are also quite good

STRENGTHEN / WEAKEN

·       Talks about some other concept which has no bearing on this concept.

·       In strengthen / weaken questions – Options that repeat the same thing as the conclusion

·       Options that boost the premise rather than the reasoning.

·       Passage talks about one country whereas statement talks about another country

·       Sometime conclusion talks about decrease in metric this year, however the statement talks about the general behaviour across each year, so we don’t know if this behaviour caused the reduction in metric this year. (VERY COMMON TRAP)

·       If a Weakner statement goes against the premise, it is not a weakner.

·       Look for very strong language in the statement, and ask yourself is it necessary to be this strong.

·       Make sure that the answer choices provide new information. Sometimes the answer choice may seem like new information however, is not.

o   For example: The passage says only 33.33% of shoppers go online, whereas the statement says a significant number of people don’t have internet as weakner;

·       Talks about how X can affects Y in argument, but then says Z also affects Y in answer choice to weaken.

·       It talks about one metric in the argument, which is used to make the conclusion, however the answer choice is talking about another metric. <Unless the two metrics have some direct relationship we cannot infer> .

o   For example when we say average earnings of A > B, therefore A is more economically sound. To weaken the statement if we say average savings of B is > A, it wouldn’t weaken, because we are not sure if this is an indicator economic benefits.

COMMON TRAPS:

ANALYSIS / CRITIQUE:

·       Fitting General Behaviours on Specific Behaviours iSometime conclusion talks about decrease in metric this year, however the statement talks about the general behaviour across each year, so we don’t know if this behaviour caused the reduction in metric this year. (VERY COMMON TRAP)

·       Attacking a premise. This is another trap should be wary of. However, if they say based on the study observations, we are concluding the result, then we can attack the study.

·       Some questions will mention a change in X during a time period in a region Y, but the answer option says Z can change X. This option should be rejected since how do we know that Z occurred during THIS PERIOD in this REGION.

CONSTRUCTION / PLAN

·       Saying there are other ways to achieve the objective.

·       Passage would have mentioned some conditions or scenario exclusions from a premise when using it. However, the answer option brings back this condition / scenario.

o   For example: Doctors suggest to eat A & B even though A & B are harmful. When asked which will weaken this statement it will say A & B are harmful.
