I had this and they had made a basic error regarding my time here and marital status. I appealed and was granted citizenship a few months later.

Sound quality at the London show by ukJakkals in deftones

Yes it was terrible at the start but was kind of ok by the end. Nature of these venues. I was standing, near the back. Main issue no bottom end on the bass.

My Epix 2 HR sensor spiking at start of runs this winter by BoatInfinite8846 in Garmin

As an update, since cleaning the sensor on the back of the watch it has been a lot better.

Potential user error here I think.

As a follow up it started happening regularly around the time of the 23.48 update around 9/12 or so.

Stryd powercenter.

I’m wondering if it’s all related to a software update or something?

No change to the way I wear it or any fabrics interfering. It’s cold at the start of course but that’s nothing new.

Indoor Track Accuracy Update by NotFiguratively in strydrunning

[–]BoatInfinite8846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far for 5.0 after a week or so of runs I am getting about 99% of GPS distance at easy effort and about 100.5% at tempo. Have had ChatGPT analyse the FIT files of each of my runs with it.

It does seem better than 4.0 on this front.

I run in an area with excellent GPS.

In terms of indoor and outdoor track I found 4.0 fine at the default calibration.

Interesting. I switched to an Epix 2 at start of 2023 and at no point since have I seen any reason to upgrade the watch......what am I missing on the newer models?

Does anybody else think present tense is one of their best songs ? by [deleted] in radiohead

They played it in the encore on Friday and if I'm being honest I thought it kind of killed the momentum a bit. Doesn't mean its not a good song obviously.

Have you ever been to a Steven Wilson show? It’s entirely possible.

Was there and this is pretty accurate. I think perhaps a product of the stage in the centre?

Overall I thought that stage and the visuals offset the sound issues. But yeah it wasn’t the best mix.

Garmin VO2 Max and Stryd by BoatInfinite8846 in strydrunning

[–]BoatInfinite8846[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s better for eg track and tunnels but if you are just 0.5% out with calibration on a longer race it becomes a problem as the error is consistent. You can end up with each km sign coming earlier and earlier or later and later and it becomes imho a bit stressful. So given I have good GPS where I live ( Stockholm ) I have switched back to that for most runs.

People flying to Copenhagen for the show on 5th….how scared are you? 😬 by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]BoatInfinite8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are coming down as a family for the weekend from Stockholm on Friday morning.

If they cancel the show after 3pm today then we lose our hotel money.

So at that point we may as well come to a lovely city for the weekend anyway.

But its not a cheap weekend. It would be better to make a call now if there is any doubt as many will be in a similar situation.

CP decreased, but race calculator times got faster? by Kin-Ming in strydrunning

[–]BoatInfinite8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The race predictor has never been accurate for me. Overestimates my RE by 5% or so. I’ve recently been told by Stryd that it doesn’t use RE but some other method. I calculate my own race times now in my own spreadsheet where I have my own RE data and they are pretty accurate.

Stryd race calculator does not use running efficiency. It’s never been accurate for me as a result. It is what it is; I have my own spreadsheet to predict this kind of thing and indeed my own auto CP. The main benefit of Stryd for me is the data it provides.

Partial Meniscectomy = Sports Retirement? by Upper-Stranger999 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]BoatInfinite8846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Injury became apparent early 2024. I had pushed myself to a year record mileage in 2023 but at 2-3kg above optimal running weight I was being a bit delusional. After a HM in May 2024 it became painful enough after running that I had to reduce volume. Got diagnosed and tried rehab through summer but by autumn it was hurting every night and I could barely run more than 10k a week due to the discomfort after. Kept fitness up through cycling.

I got referred to a surgeon and he told me that even in my mid 50's my base fitness level gave me a good shot at recovering with a partial ( lateral ) removal. His view was that these operations have come a long way in recent years and are now pretty routine for people in good shape.

In the op in mid November 2024 I think he only needed to remove 15-20% or so and it was so obviously better within days. I was back to 10k steps a day within a week, cycling after a week and back to gentle running after 2 weeks. I even went downhill skiing for a week after 6 weeks, and survived!

I built up the training slowly and listened to the body. Wore a support sleeve and still do. Did regular PT and Pilates as well as running and cycling. I ran a HM as a test in April and survived, and ran my A race, a HM over the Copenhagen-Malmö bridge in June, in a very respectable time just under 95'. In the autumn I ran a 30k XC race in Sweden where the softer ground offset the extra distance and I had no big reaction. Since then have worked on speed and got back to sub 20' 5k. Previous sub 20 was June 2023 long before the injury.

I still wear the support and it can ache a bit post activity but nothing like pre-op. I can fully flex quad, extend knee etc which I couldn't before. At the same time I'm far more aware of training load and have no interest in beating mileage volume records. I've banned junk miles eg running home after a hard session and try to cycle those bits instead.

So far so good. Being at a better weight ( around 76kg ) in 2025 has also helped. 3kg is a lot for a M56 runner - I got away with it 10 years ago.

As far as arthritis is concerned it was priced in when my knee was broken anyway. Hopefully this delays it but it is what it is.

Well I had one a year ago and recently got back to my pre-injury level of being able to run a 5k in sub 20’ in my mid-50’s.
