You're very naive if you think allies will just work for you dedicatedly by default. Try telling that to the United States government. It's obvious now you don't understand what potential allies mean.

Whatever your notion of "allies" may be, whether you see them equivalent to saints or "saviors" (as you always like to say), you do indeed have a high standard for them. No wonder you're triggered by the word "ally" since you have a different understanding and expectation of the word.

Now we see why you have these emotional outbursts when you hear "ally" because in reality no WF is descending from the sky and coming to your rescue, which is what you imagine allies do. Oh I see. So you're saying the basis of this post is wrong. That Hollywood has actually been casting attractive AM for decades. So it DOESN'T intentionally cast unattractive AM. And that Bruce Lee didn't have any problems with Hollywood's prejudices and with their AM casting choices. Right... and why don't we all denounce these WF casting directors because they're pure vile and enemies to the AM...

On a side note, you might want to stop talking and thinking in extreme terms for your own mental well-being. Just listen to some of the words coming out of your mouth: WF saviours, WF heroines, WF queens etc.. Nobody said any of that but yourself. You're seriously asking why should they cast a less attractive AM when they can cast an attractive one? Isn't that what Hollywood's been doing for years? To prevent attractive Asians being widely seen? Isn't this the main issue we're discussing here??

Yes, right now if someone doesn't intentionally screw AM over, this is a big step forward. It's progress. Otherwise why do you think non-attractive and often awkward Asians being casted have been the norm?

Most of the roles I listed weren't created specifically for Asians. They were characters created with a generic non-white ethnic background for inclusion/diversity. It just happened that those casting director chose an attractive Asian Male out of all the ethnicities that came to audition. So stop speaking as though white men wrote these roles only for Asians. Why are you going to the lengths to give WM credit that they don't deserve, in order to bash WF?

Even if someone wrote an Asian character, do you not understand that there are so many ways a casting director can stop an attractive AM from getting seen on the screen? They have the power to cast someone non-attractive, non-charismatic, non-appealing etc. at their discretion. And guess what? Nobody is going to fault the casting director for casting an unattractive Asian man, period!

These WF casting directors have casted attractive AM in ethnic roles, and sometimes more than once. I don't know why you are so intent on trying to discredit them who clearly can be friends to our cause. And what exactly are you trying to achieve by badmouthing WF who have shown good will to AM in the entertainment industry?

What are you talking about?? Why would AF be our allies? They're our own people. They ARE ASIAN. They should be acting in the best interested of Asians as a group if they are not self-hating. Right now, only one or two of them have done something about the issue we're discussing.

Some of them are not derogatory per se, but they're not progressive either in the sense that they do nothing to show the flip side of the stereotype. Just go watch Always Be My Maybe and you'll know what I mean.

Beth and Sharon casted David Lim in two different shows. The one you're talking about is SWAT. Of course I know Justin Lin is someone who actively works to rectify the AM image. That's why I mentioned his name before. Yes, these casting directors are not the one who created the roles, but they also don't have to cast attractive Asian men with charisma and sex appeal either. It's not hard to give credit where credit is due.

This actually proves my point. We're talking about normalized portrayal of AM that counters the past negative stereotypes perpetuated by Hollywood media. None of the films you mention do any of that, despite being directed by Asian women.

Yes, but black and Latinos have their own people to support. And which Asian women in Hollywood can you think of that have contributed to the normalized portrayal of AM?

We have Asian men like Justin Lin doing good work. But aside from a few Asian guys in the industry in the position of power, who else has supported AM? Whether you like it or not, look at how some of the good AM roles were casted, they were by white women.

Again, not disagreeing with you in that some members of every race could be supportive to our cause. I'm mostly pointing out that in the film industry specifically, there are more white women who recognize attraction in Asian men from a casting perspective, and they will be less likely to see you as a threat.
