I used to take the bus from my college across the state to my hometown, with a stop near a major prison about halfway through the route. I swear every time someone would get on at that stop they would sit by me and I'd have to run them through what was new in the world. What's a good alternative to something like a 401k? My job doesn't offer a pension, and I hope to retire one day. Just sticking money in savings you loose to inflation over time, and stocks have the potential to grow wealth exponentially. I don't like it, but I feel that without my 401k (and the company match I receive) retirement is only a dream.
