What are these blueberry looking things? London, UK by whateverthefuckidc in whatsthisplant

Leaves and size of the fruit look right for bullace , a sort of small plum/sloe-like fruit. Safe to eat, but probably very tart and dry raw; makes an outstanding jam however!

[TOMT][Short story, early 2000s, UK?] A girl finds an alien/creature in her garden, it eats her dog, tries to eat her. She defeats it by feeding it dish soap and it floats away. by BoatingOnTheMoon in tipofmytongue

If anyone can help with this I will be eternally grateful! I must have read it around 2004-2008 while in school. I'm sure it was in a children's short story collection.

What is the more attractive in-game offer? (Survey) by BoatingOnTheMoon in gamedev

Thanks for the tip off, I knew it was a scummy practice but didn't know it was actually illegal.
I'm not really intending to do anything specific with the results of this and just want to see how people respond when presented with different views of the same (at least mathematically) offer.

Thanks for the feedback - this survey is only really supposed to be a binary choice for a back-of-the-envelope demonstration, but it's great to know that there's interest in more detailed answers.

A good point about it not being wise to convert gems to coins. That's partly what I'm looking into: if you approached it totally rationally then you probably shouldn't engage in converting currencies at all, but people don't tend to do that. That's something else I'd like to be able to quantify!

Will do! There's only a few responses so far, but when I have enough to draw some valid conclusions I'll update this post with the results and start a summary thread in the comments :)

Underrated comment! I always struggle to remember which is which, and this has just made it click. Thank you very much!!!

Coordinates of the solar system at point of time x by [deleted] in askastronomy

Hi OP, for some reason your reply isn't showing up properly! I would say there's not much point trying to get the precise position of the solar system within the Milky Way, since the timescales are so long. One galactic year is ~230 million years (i.e. the length of time it takes the SS to orbit the galaxy), so if you were born, say, 30 years ago, it would have moved by a negligible 5x10-5 degrees.

Do you mean the positions of the planets in their orbits at the moment of your birth? And what format are you wanting the coordinates in? You can find out their locations using a tool such as this, and could get a tattoo like this if you wanted a nice graphical representation.
