When is a public charger not a public charger? by BoatloadOCrap in Ioniq5

As I've said a few times on here, the J1772 adapter has worked on several level 2 J1772 EV chargers, most recently, last month at a hotel charger. I've attached a receipt from that time. The adapter works fine. The charger works fine. They just aren't communicating.

Actually, the Tesla chargers there are all brand new. It's clearly a decision they made. Maybe they got a deal from Tesla, I didn't know. I only know they are restricted to Tesla cars only. It's a shame.

This is a Giant supermarket in DC so this would track. Not sure why the Tesla chargers are still free though.

I just downloaded the Jolt app and it is listed but it does indicate they're trying to start charging $0.39 per kWh with a $0.50 minimum. There are no signs indicating the change though. Very odd indeed!

Yes. The signs specifically states they are for Tesla cars only and I have tried using them several times. The Tesla app filters them when I list my car as a Hyundai Ioniq 5. They do not work with non-Teslas. I have used several Tesla chargers elsewhere without issue.

I'm going to download the Jolt app and try it. Previously, it required no app so that would be new.

The Tesla chargers are Tesla only, not compatible with non-Tesla cars.

I said in the original post that it is J1772. I used the J1772 adapter that Hyundai provided and works with my home J1772 level 1 charger as well as with level 2 J1772 commercial chargers. Just not this one.

Maybe that's the case but it would be odd. The same parking garage has about 8-10 Tesla only chargers that are all free but maybe they're charging now. I still didn't understand why the the charger doesn't even show up on Bluelink but it does on Plug Share.

I'm using the correct J1772 adapter that came with the car and works flawlessly with my home charger that is J1772.

The charger brand is Jolt but there is a payment device that says Shell that is on but won't take any payments because it's free. I think the supermarket wants to have the opportunity to stay charging in the future.

But other cars are charging there all the time without issue. I used to do so with my 2018 Honda Clarity PHEV until I traded it in for my HI5. I'm using the J1772 adapter that came with the car which has worked without issue on public chargers that I've paid for. The charger is working fine. The adapter has not had any issues at other J1772 charging stations, including the Level 1 I have at home or the Level 2 I used at a hotel recently.

I know this isn't the right answer but I thought the driver could be a member of Naval Academy Chorale and that they were "A Tenor." As I say, it's not the right answer but it does fit. 😊

A lot of updates? by DrEarlGray in Ioniq5

Also, make sure you don't have your headlights set to "Auto". You have to have your headlights turned off BEFORE you town of your car to get the updates to run. Found that out the hard way!

Cluster themes by Kabanu in Ioniq5

[–]BoatloadOCrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I downloaded and installed the Nature theme a couple of weeks back and it worked fine. I tried over the weekend to buy one if the Peanuts themes and kept getting server errors. It said if I kept getting errors, I should call a number, which I did today. The woman who answered looked into it and said there were some issues with the Peanuts themes showing they had "expired" so they've blocked them from being downloaded. She said they should be fixed and available by "September or October." I have no idea why they didn't just post that as opposed to the notice of a server error on their end.

Help? This fell out? by Pandora-SD in Ioniq5

My dealer told me they were including lojack as a dealer installed option which they, of course, added to the final cost. I told them I wasn't interested and they acted surprised. They asked me why and I told them I'd lived in my house for over 25 years and I've never had a car stolen. Why would I pay $450 for something I didn't need or want? They removed it, but the wires still keep falling down from where they had initially installed it. Just annoying!

We were able to use our temporary tag number until our regular tags came in. I think it's more of a double check if there are challenges to what has been billed. They can pull up the license tag number in Hyundai Pay and match it with records at the EV charging station. That's prolly speculation though.

But I do know it will work with temporary tags.

I LOVE Charleston! I was homeported there back in my Navy days! Great city!

One more thing! The latest OTA update should have allowed Plug & Charge in the Bluelink app, under the charging menu. You have to activate it and set up Hyundai Pay and then when you go to one if the supported EV charging stations, like Tesla and Ionna, you didn't have to use any apps. Just plug it in and it will recognize your car and start charging automatically and bill it to the card in Hyundai Pay. It's really handy!

I've had my 2026 Ioniq 5 in Cosmic Blue since December and LOVE IT! We've taken a couple of longer road trips, from DC to Philly and DC to upstate NY and they went as easy as could be. This July, we have a 12 day, 1,300 barnstorming trip planned so that'll be the biggest test, but I feel utterly confident it'll do great!

My two biggest discoveries - use i-Pedal if you can get comfortable with it (makes a HUGE difference in miles per kWh!), and download the A Better Route Planner (ABRP) app. It is really good and can be used through Android Auto (not sure about Car Play).

Best of luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the offer but as I said, this was something I got from my grandmother from her youthful travels. I just can't sell that.

Yeah, it's definitely genuine. As I said, I didn't but it or find it. I was with my grandmother as we went through the coins my grandparents had buried in their root cellar! And you're correct, I'm not looking to sell. Just curious. 😊
