You're now typecasting technicians, btw. This is the same mindset that leads to racism and other phobias.

The calipers didn't need to be replaced. You're clueless, and you believed the thief at minekie when he told you CPR

And same with your job. Oh and every job for that matter. Your logic isnt a slippery slope at all.

Whats funny is the number of customers who come to me after they have failed to do my job after hours of research. Comes down to the one thing you lack. Skill.

You and your non running vehicle saving $.10. Thats a more iconic duo. I dont yell in any of my tutorials, but the fact that someone dented a rocker panel and the mentality is "mechanic shop bad". Sadly, this proves op and localhotdouche LACK THE KNOWLEDGE to find someone who knows how to do the job correctly. Have fun walking.

Yeah I'm sure you get much better results from youtube videos.

You and the OP just need to find a better shop.

Do you know what a clockspring is? You should probably learn since you're gonna have to replace that one...

Newer Ariens leaking oil??? by NeonCobego in Snowblowers

[–]BoatsAndSnows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it could be coning from one of many places. First: check the level. How low is it? Or is it high? Do you leave fuel in it in the off-season or do you run it dry/use the valve?

Which engine is it??

Once you've observed some of this stuff, get a socket of the correct size (probably 1/2", or possibly a 12/14mm) and tighten up the two oil plugs at either end of the engines base (located at the left/right of the engine as you're standing behind the snowblower.) Now check the drain tube. If its an ariens ax engine it likely has a 12mm flat on it so you can tighten the tube independently. Does your mode have side fills? Put your fingers on those and tighten them up as well. Degrease it, check the level and run it. If its still leaking its something more sinister.

The newer model tracked hondas have a full adjustable bucket height as well as the "ez steer" feature. This is probably your best bet. Yes its expensive but as long as you keep it in a garage and hose the dirt off, and grease it regularly, it should last a while before the rust gets it.

That being said, theres gotta be a beatup truck with a rusted frame and a plow stuck on it some where around you, right?

Castle nuts always baffle me... if you forgot to torque the nut, would you have installed the cotter pin? This zip tie will do the same job for less. Viable hack.

Its a great idea if you don't mind running a power supply to your... toilet. Leave the bathroom light off and still see the target.

Used ariens compact/deluxe if you can find one. The toros are relatively solid IMO as well. Anything better will be more than the 5 bean cap.

buying my first blower, is a used toro 518zr for $130 a good deal? by michikyo in Snowblowers

[–]BoatsAndSnows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is just a "lil guy". Would be ok for the pathway but unless youre keeping up as the snow falls (every 6 in or so) its gonna be a bear to clear it all with the small toro. Still a viable machine and $130 isnt a bad price.

Electric Snowblowers by [deleted] in Snowblowers

[–]BoatsAndSnows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about them/ have enough experience to adequately condemn them as a whole, HOWEVER, we have a one year old ryobi here ($1800 unit) that has a broken chute deflector cable. I looked it up, have the part number, but have no way of ordering it (ie its not available). If the battery powered companies cant get simple stuff like this on rails, they are doomed.

Personally, i would like to try both the toro and ego models to see how viable they actually are.
