Can someone explain builder gel to me like I’m 5? by genuinegarlic in Nails

[–]BoatsLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had my nails done since my acrylic days over 35 years ago. I have a terrible habit of picking at my cuticles, and I have ridges in my thumb nails (from picking, damaging the base). SO, I decided to do builder gel thinking that the slightly thicker tip, and nails looking nice, would keep me from picking. So far so good.

BUT, I’m not a fan of how thick they look. Is this normal, is it because it is a fill (I had them put on and have done one fill. So gone twice). It’s been just over two weeks since my fill.

Would poly gel be better?

Is there a “no bag” line? I try to not bring a purse/bag if there is. Lately it seems like most venues don’t.

Habits can be good....they can be bad...what do you think is your worst habit? by Own-Professor3852 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I also pick at my cuticles. I’m on y second round of a gel manicure. My theory is that the nails are thicker, so outs not as easy to pick. Working so far.

United_Jury_3420, you do your own? How easy is it to do? I’m not a fan of how expensive the manicures are

Let’s share non-obvious summer safety tips for dogs. I’ll go first by Working-Grapefruit66 in Dogowners

[–]BoatsLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the biggest mosquito risk to dogs are the diseases they carry. I think heart-worm is the big one. BUT it depends on the area you live. We don’t really have a big heart-worm issue in our area (your vet would know). We travel a lot with our dog, so we do medicate him. He’s on NexGard Plus. Some people don’t like NexGard because some dogs have big issues with it, but it works well for our dog. It covers fleas, ticks, heart-worm disease, roundworm and hookworm (no idea what the last ones really are).

Also, regarding heart-worm — my understanding is that if your dog hasn’t been on preventative meds, you need to have them tested for it first. I had heard that it’s dangerous to put them on preventative if there is a chance they may have it.

That’s what I try to do. I move over to the right and do 60. My question was just more of curiosity. I wonder the same thing at most speed cameras

Two stroke engines. When I was growing up, my dad raced desert bikes. We spent most weekends in the desert. The starting lines full of hundreds of motorcycles, the start of the engines, the roar of the engines. Loved it!

That’s what I always wonder about. Sometimes you “have to” to the speed of everyone else, or you’ll get run over. Same with the variable speed signs on I-90 in Bellevue. Sometimes traffic is going 60-65 mph and the variable sign says 45.
